This book takes a quick look at the history of England from the Battle of Hastings to Brexit. Particularly in the earlier centuries, the authors skipped over quite a bit. It's quite a whirlwind from William the Conqueror to Queen Elizabeth I. I thought an inordinate amount of time, considering how short the book is, was spent on World War II, only 6 years out of the millennium-plus coverage of this book. As someone who is also a student of Scottish and Irish history and culture, I found some comments certainly those of the victors, not of the vanquished. There's an old saying that history is told by those who triumph, and that is certainly true with this book! The narrator, clearly English, does a good job narrating and is a pleasure to listen to. I found the appendix on kings, queens, and prime ministers tedious to listen to, but overall, I found this an interesting listen.
