About this listen

Dusty Richards' Westerns are visceral portraits of America's past - a time when ruthless land-grabbing reddened the plains with blood. In this 2007 Spur Award winner, cattle baron Rupart MacDavis wants to bury the ranchers of Horse Creek, Montana. With the local law in his pocket, MacDavis brutalizes the town - until Herschel Baker begins showing the people how to fight back.©2006 Dusty Richards (P)2007 Recorded Books Fiction Westerns

The Horse creek incident

Herschel Baker is fighting the system. There trying to run all the small ranchers out. I love this type of storyline. One Bad guy wants to control everything and uses money and outlaws and dirty plans to stay on top. Herschel fights them. He runs for sheriff. It's an impossible task. This is one of the best books I've listened to in a while. There is two more books in this series. This is Book one. They do need to be listened to in order. I was one hundred percent wrapped up in this book. A United States Marshall comes in at the end to help Herschel solve everything and figure out who's responsible for the killings and who's the top man in charge.. Dusty Richards did a good job writing this story. Ken Marks does a great job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

Authentic Western

Loved this truly authentic western adventure. The story drew me right in. The action just kept on coming. I can't wait to read more in this series. This can be read as a standalone book. I listened to the audible version and loved it. The narrator did an excellent job.
