Publisher's summary

Dear Listener,

This audio is the only one which describes every last detail of the Baudelaire children's miserable stay at Heimlich Hospital, which makes it one of the most dreadful audios in the world.

There are many pleasant things to listen to, but this audio contains not one of them. Within it are such burdensome details as a suspicious shopkeeper, unnecessary surgery, an intercom system, anesthesia, heart-shaped balloons, and some very startling news about a fire. Clearly you do not want to hear about such things.

I have sworn to research this story, and to record it as best I can, so I should know that this audio is something best left on the ground, where you undoubtedly found it.

With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

Critic reviews

"Tim Curry is in his element performing Lemony Snicket. He offers abundant vocal impersonations, including real-sounding children; the excitement of squeaks, screams, and groans; and then, soothingly, a clear, warm narrative voice. Ideal for children and parents with imagination and a sense of the absurd." (AudioFile)

YOU SHOULD MOST DEFINITELY READ THE OTHER BOOKS! There SO GOOD!!!!

I really thought that this was interesting but i think you would better grasp the concept reading the other 7 but you could still find your way around some tricky words which lemony snikets explains in a funny but helpful way(don’t pay attention to the blurps on the back he just is trying to make this violent-ish book more interesting

EXCELLENT reading, of another fun book by Snicket

I think Tim Curry was born to read these books. His voice is perfect for conveying the sense of doom and gloom that hangs over the unfortunate Baudelaire children. This is one of those kids books that adults can enjoy listening to nearly as much as kids do! I love his method of teaching children new words in a way that ties in with the story.

Highly recommended for kids, and also for adults who love kids stories.

Volunteers Fighting Decease

We are volunteers fighting decease
And we're cheerful all day long
If someone said that we were sad
That person would be wrong

hostile hospital

Would you consider the audio edition of The Hostile Hospital to be better than the print version?

It was great to listen to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hostile Hospital?

Just after Violet's anesthetic has wearing off & the children are trying to think of a plan to get out of the hospital without being burnt to a crisp or being noticed by a bunch of people.

Which scene was your favorite?

When they are in the library of records and Count Olaf's girlfriend was trying to kill two of the children and capture one.
