Started so good....

The prologue was an immediate catch. Well written,heart-wrenching,i was looking forward to a decent “intelligent” story. After the two main characters meet,it just went to formula smart assery and dumb. The usual inane sarcastic banter. The smart, adept reporter, going stupid around the he-man, rough tough talking ex special forces now FBI agent. They just met yet a couple hours later team up(all facts revealed) to go after a big human trafficker. Dropping everything and taking off with not a plan in sight. Good lord. I couldn’t stand either one. We know what’s coming. The narrator was even more annoying at times with ending most sentences on a “down voice”. DNF

Really great read!

I liked the characters in this book, they were intelligent and interesting and the action and suspense was really enjoyable. I didn’t have to wade through page after page of sex, but what there was of it was pretty intense because of that. I am a fan, Ms. Lee!

Great Book, More Action Adventure than Romance

Fast-moving, never boring. Some foul language, Deals with sex trafficking and can be hard to listen to in places, but that is only due to the subject matter, not the writing or narration. Therese Plummer does a good job with the female characters both adult and child. I am not crazy about her male voices but they are distinct one from another and different than the females. Overall a very good book.

Great Narration

I liked the book and I liked the characters, but the story line was a little choppy/quick - not particularly well developed. Nevertheless, it kept my interest and I would definitely read another book by Rachel Lee. I will say, however, that without Therese Plummer as narrator - it might not have been half as interesting. Therese might be the best narrator out there - she can make a mediocre book good and a good book great!

Proceed with caution

This was not at all what I expected from a Harlequin book in the Romance Package. Intense and graphic scenes of human trafficking and all the brutality that entails.

It's a reasonably well done story and Therese Plummer is one of the best narrators around but I would not go down this road again.

promising start but major fail

The writer puts too much of her leftist politics in where they aren't needed. The premise was supposed to be about human trafficking, but her frequent asides to discuss environmental issues eventually had me sending the book back. My other issue was that for some reason, she had the male lead force the female lead through his condensed version of special ops training. They had less than a week. She wasn't going to run a three minute mile or manage 100 push ups. At best, he would have made her so sore she could barely move by the time action is needed. I hardly ever write reviews, and even fewer negative ones, but this really annoyed me.

Gripping

Any additional comments?

As with my other reviews I prefer to leave the plot details for listeners to discover. I will say that as always I enjoyed Therese Plummer's narration and her ability to breathe life into the characters.

This story made my pulse pound with the action and plot but it was the characters that really sealed my overall enjoyment of the story!

Should NEVER be billed as "Romantic" Suspense!!!!!

What did you like about this audiobook?

Good story-line somewhat. However, MUCH too grisly and graphic to EVER be in the Romantic anything category!!!! So frustrating - I am NOT into real crime...I read to escape!

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

More romance - less horror. I get the note from the Author about white slavery. I had a dear friend murdered by a rapist/serial killer. I DO NOT want to read about it in a book that is supposed to be "Romantic-Suspense". If I wanted to read a depressing "true-crime" story - that's what I would have bought!!!!! Arghh!!!!

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

N/A

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

EXTREME disappointment!!!

Do you have any additional comments?

Waste of my credit - made myself finish it!!!!
