About this listen

The Ice Dragon is an enchanting tale of courage and sacrifice for listeners of all ages by the wildly popular author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Song of Ice and Fire series, George R.R. Martin.

In the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, the ice dragon was a creature of legend and fear, for no man had ever tamed one. When it flew overhead, it left in its wake desolate cold and frozen land. But Adara was not afraid. For Adara was a winter child, born during the worst freeze that anyone, even the Old Ones, could remember.

Adara could not remember the first time she had seen the ice dragon. It seemed that it had always been in her life, glimpsed from afar as she played in the frigid snow long after the other children had fled the cold. In her fourth year she touched it, and in her fifth year she rode upon its broad, chilled back for the first time. Then, in her seventh year, on a calm summer day, fiery dragons from the North swooped down upon the peaceful farm that was Adara's home. And only a winter child—and the ice dragon who loved her—could save her world from utter destruction.

Fantastic little story

My only complaint would be the way the narrator pronounces her "wh" sounds as "hwh"..

Classic GRRM!

An excellent novella about a special little girl, Idara and her soul mate, her Ice Dragon. This story shows you shades of A Story of Ice and Fire within its pages, but it isn't of the same world at all. I especially liked the relationship Idara has with the winter and its creatures, and the symbolism G.R.R.M. infuses the story with. A solid 5 star read!

A classic Fairytale

I feel like in the future this will be a story we tell our children. It is a great story with a great performance. good for a quick listen if you have nothing going on for less than an hour. of course the writing is amazing because George R.R.Martin is one of the most talented authors of our time.

I loved it, but I sure wish it was longer.

I'm so used to George R. R. Martin's books being so much longer.

Nice

Seems like a Game of Thrones Prequel or a tale in that world. it's a great book.

A sad story...or is it

As one would expect from the author of "Game of Thrones", the story is a sad/happy one. Only George Martin could write a story with a happy ending while maintaining a sad story. Or is it the other way around? It depends on which compass point you look at it from, north or south.
