It’s a question microbiologist Richard Draman thought he’d answered when he walked away from his career to focus on curing a genetic defect that is causing his daughter to age at a wildly accelerated rate. But now he and his wife Carly are being forced to come to terms with the fact that eight-year-old Susie’s time is running out. Then they receive an unexpected gift: startling new research into the fundamental secrets of life that could be the miracle they’ve been looking for.
When Richard is arrested on a trumped-up charge of having stolen the data, he takes his family and runs, seeking out a retired special-forces operative and old friend to help dig up the truth behind the controversial experiments. Determined to either save Susie’s life or die trying, the Dramans plunge into a bloody conflict between two powerful factions vying for control of a discovery that could change the face of humanity.

and the old soldier. They were a fun twosome! The narrator was very good with quite a good range for the various characters and accents, and did an especially fine job with the Russian fellow. He really did a fine job overall!
Like I said earlier, this book was, overall, just okay. I doubt I would search out any other books by this author. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, but those who really enjoy this type of genre might find it enjoyable.
Not too bad. A little dry, a bit bland, a little boring....

Richard and Carly: Husband and Wife trying to save their Daughter, stumble onto an international cover up that could change the entire human race...but at a cost.
Solid characters who are going through tremendous suffering and rising up to find the truth.
I really felt the author understood the pain of loss.
Some surprises, some I guessed. It was a solid, long drive kind of book, action packed and taking you in different directions. Also glad that there was no attempt to completely explain how the catalyst is produced.
Thank you Kyle Mills for finally answering a question I posed to Robert Sawyer about his book Rollback- "what are cellular consequences of immortality?" (FYI, he refused to answer me)
Reader was ok. I liked all the voices EXCEPT the child, who sounded like a puppet character from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.
As Advertised, Action and a Little Bit Futurist

My prior Kyle Mill exposure has been only with his continuation of Ludlum's Jason Bourne series. I have not been impressed. The Immortalists is a decent futurist book, but it does nothing to quiet my concern for the selection of Mills to continue the Mitch Rapp series. I hope that Mills will be up to the task.
I had hoped that Mark Greaney Brad Thor, or Brian Haig would be selected by the Flynn Foundation. Thor already has his own wonderful Scott Harvath series, so that hope was unrealistic. Haig would be excellent, but at age 59 he is likely older than ideal. Mark Greaney would be the best possible choice but he was either unavailable or was not selected for some reason. Greaney is currently writing Clancy's Jack Ryan series and his Ryan books are consistently superior to the best of Tom Clancy.
Based on his body of work it seems very unlikely that Kyle Mills will be able to match Flynn's success with the Mitch Rapp series. I desperately hope I am wrong. I certainly wish Mills great success.
Interesting, but not compelling

I’m more of a political, military thriller reader. The only reason I bought this book was Kyle Mills' reputation of writing excellent books. What a fantastic web he weaved in this story. Loved all the characters, especially the center of this story, Susie. A well written character full of personality. The parents Richard and Carly are unexpected heroes in their quest to save their daughter's life. Cannot recommend this book enough.
