Publisher's summary
Bella's ordinary life as an emergency room nurse is shattered when she witnesses a horrifying attack at a gas station - the chilling sight of a man feasting on another's flesh.
But this isn't your run-of-the-mill zombie outbreak. No, these aren't the walking dead. The majority of the population has fallen prey to an unknown airborne virus that transforms them into ravenous, mindless creatures. Foaming at the mouth, bleeding from the eyes - they hunger for human flesh.
Bella's own world collapses when her beloved family succumbs to the infection. As one of the rare immune survivors, she finds herself whisked away to a secure military base, joining others who have miraculously evaded the virus's clutches. Among them is a resolute and stern soldier with whom Bella constantly clashes, yet finds herself strangely drawn to his captivating eyes.
United by their immunity, the Immune must forge an alliance to navigate the treacherous path of survival. Can they uncover a cure amidst the chaos that threatens their very existence? What sacrifices will they make to ensure their safety in this merciless new reality? With tensions mounting, will they tear each other apart before the infected can claim them all?

Not truly a Zombie story
I don’t agree with previous review. The story just started with killing families with very little explanation of why and how people became infected. Bella was soooo annoying to be a ER nurse she was often clueless and a know it all . The narrator made every character sound the same very flat and monotone. At this point I have no interest in reading the next book. I wish I didn’t use my credit for this book.

There's no vaccine for this plague!!!
"The Infected: A Zombie Apocalypse Thriller" is an adrenaline-pumping rollercoaster ride through the depths of a zombie-infested world that will leave you breathless and craving for more. Robert Blair, the author, has masterfully crafted a suspenseful and gripping narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from the very first page to the heart-pounding climax. And let's not forget the stellar narration by Denai Carrillo, which adds an extra layer of depth and immersion to the story.
One of the standout aspects of this audiobook is the exceptional character development. Bella, our protagonist, starts as an ordinary nurse, but her transformation into a fierce survivor is nothing short of captivating. Her journey is one of resilience, growth, and adaptation in the face of unimaginable horrors. Blair skillfully brings her character to life, making her relatable and endearing to the listener. Bella's evolution from a vulnerable bystander to a determined fighter is a testament to the strength of the human spirit.
Moreover, Bella's complicated relationship with Ford, a stern soldier, adds a rich layer of intrigue to the story. Their clashes and the undeniable attraction between them create a dynamic that keeps you invested in their personal journey amidst the chaos of a world overrun by the infected. It's a testament to Blair's storytelling prowess that he can weave both the high-stakes action and the complex emotions of his characters seamlessly into the narrative.
The world-building in "The Infected" is nothing short of extraordinary. Blair paints a vivid and terrifying picture of a post-apocalyptic landscape overrun by ravenous, mindless creatures created by an unknown airborne virus. The descriptions are so vivid that you can almost feel the tension in the air and smell the decay. The action scenes are both thrilling and terrifying, immersing listeners in the relentless danger and chaos that the characters face at every turn.
One of the standout qualities of this audiobook is its relentless pace. From the moment you hit play, you're thrust into a world filled with danger and uncertainty, and the stakes only rise higher with each passing chapter. The story never drags; it's a continuous, heart-pounding rush that keeps you eagerly anticipating what will happen next. Blair's ability to maintain this level of intensity is commendable and speaks to his skill as a storyteller.
In a genre that's often associated with mindless violence, "The Infected" offers much more. It delves into thought-provoking themes of humanity's resilience in the face of catastrophic events. It challenges the characters, and by extension, the listener, to question how far they would go to survive and what sacrifices they would make to ensure their safety in this merciless new reality. This depth of exploration adds a layer of substance to the narrative that sets it apart from typical zombie tales.
Now, let's talk about Denai Carrillo's narration. Carrillo does an excellent job bringing the story to life with her narration. She strikes a balance between capturing the tension of the action scenes and conveying the emotions of the characters. Her voice is clear and engaging, making it easy for listeners to immerse themselves in the story. While I don't want to overdo the praise for the narration, it's worth noting that Carrillo's performance enhances the overall listening experience, adding to the audiobook's appeal.
The Infected: A Zombie Apocalypse Thriller is a must-listen for fans of the zombie genre and anyone seeking an adrenaline-fueled adventure. Robert Blair's expert storytelling, combined with Denai Carrillo's solid narration, creates an audiobook that is both thrilling and thought-provoking. This is a tale of survival, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of humanity, and it will leave you questioning what you would do when the world teeters on the edge of darkness. So, if you're ready for a heart-pounding journey through a zombie-infested world, hit play on "The Infected" and prepare for an unforgettable experience.
