About this listen

Robert Evans' The Kid Stays in the Picture is universally recognized as the greatest, most outrageous, and most unforgettable show business memoir ever written. The basis of an award-winning documentary film, it remains the gold standard of Hollywood storytelling.

With a new introduction by the legendary actor, producer, and Hollywood studio chief Robert Evans, The Kid Stays in the Picture is driven by a voice as charming and irresistible as any great novel.

An extraordinary raconteur, Evans spares no one, least of all himself. Filled with starring roles for everyone from Ava Gardner to Marlon Brando to Sharon Stone, The Kid Stays in the Picture is sharp, witty, self-aggrandizing, and self-lacerating in equal measure.

Great Insight into Hollywood

The book lived up to its hype. I’ve heard about this book for many years now and finally got around to listening to it. Luckily, Bob Evans narrates it as only he could and should. You can feel the love and eagerness as well as disdain for all that is his life and Hollywood. Anyone curious about a great man, his rise, his fall, and just the movies in general should give the book a listen.

Inside Hollywood

Some interesting inside stories about some of the most famous movies ever made by a man who himself was apparently brilliant and a bit crazy at the same time

Amazing

This book was fantastic. Having Robert Evans narrate his own story made it feel to me like he was in the room with me telling me a story, which he was in a way. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys tales of Hollywood.

Fun

This is a fun and wild ride through a life of someone that has contributed so much to the industry that I have been apart of most of my life.

Wow, what a life!

Tinsle Town as only an insiders insider could tell it, a fascinating look at the Hollywood of the last half of the 20th century. Rags to riches, and back again...and again!

Amazing personality and life

I did not read the book and can only comment on the Audible Version---I loved it. Evans' reading his own book is a joy. Some state he seemed 'wooden' but I thought he did a nice job portraying the various characters in his life. Amazing story of his rescue of Paramount and the simply wonderful movies (many) he helped bring to the screen. So worth the time to listen to this amazing personality

An icon of his and any time

Many people can put a story to page. Few lived the story. Evens is one. His voice telling the stories of his career is worth the listen. Let alone the tales and insight. Glad I finally heard it. I wish it was ten times longer.

What a ride!

The most amazing journey I've taken through the history of Hollywood in a long time and one that will stick with me forever. Evans tells his personal story better than any of the masterpieces produced.

This guy is a piece of work..

I started reading the actual book; it's good. But to hear Robert Evans tell the story, or should I say stories in his voice which is akin to if Jack Nicholson & the devil had a child, is priceless. Plus, he does impressions of some if his infamous (that's more than famous) close friends everytime he tells a story in which they are in. If Bob Evans recorded a second book, I'd swipe it up immediately. This guy is legend.
