About this listen

Izzy, her boyfriend, and her holiday-crashing neighbor, Etta, are off to the driest, flattest, and most infertile inhabited continent on earth - where even the cutest of creatures might try to kill you.

But that’s only the beginning of their problems....

A Taste Society courier goes missing.

And 26 hours after Izzy lands in Australia, a crocodile is found dead. With a human corpse inside.

Not quite the start to her relaxing holiday she’d been hoping for.

Etta, on the other hand, is ecstatic. Relaxing was never part of her itinerary.

Meanwhile, Izzy’s boyfriend, Connor, is developing a new sympathy for fish out of water. Between trying to win over Izzy’s country-folk parents, preventing Etta from shooting anything, and being enlisted to smuggle a goat into a posh hotel, his day job hunting down criminals has never seemed more appealing.

Then a series of accidents threatens to add Izzy to the body count. Is Australia really that dangerous? Or does someone want Izzy to swim with the fishes and crocodiles?

An excellent addition to the series

Chelsea Field has crafted another great addition to the series. Saskia Maarleveld was spot on with her narration as she brought it all to life. I highly recommend this book and the entire series. I suggest reading/listening in the order in which they were written.

Great Story with Izzy's family

Loved this one. Struggled with the one before and Connor's POV / change of heart. Glad to see this one back in line with the series. Great meeting Izzy's family and Connor's desire to make a good impression. Taste Society is involved in this one but with a different type of investigation. I loved the house goat and Izzy's family. Held my interest, clean, funny, with a twist or two. One that will continue the story arc back in the US. Great narration.

Ypiee Conner and Izzy are back

A great cozy with a little romance
Isobel’s (Izzy) life as a taster continues to be eventful; meaning murder with the meal. She was only hired a as a taster. Yet all her jobs have come with a side of murder.

For the past 15 months, there has been a conflict between Izzy and Conner. Conner has been plagued with the feeling that something fatal could happen to Izzy. His father died when he was just 10 years-old and 20 years later his fiancée Sophia was killed as collateral damage in a job. This made him reticent in committing to a relationship. Since Izzy and Conner acknowledged their love, they came to the agreement to be partners.

It takes years for people to become proficient in self-defense. After less than a year in lessons Conner can feel that she is competent enough to defend herself. That is where I must suspend belief.

Conner and Izzy are traveling to Australia for him to meet her parents. Chelsea Field, the author, gives us a small taste of the Australia accent, animals, and scenery. Etta is tagging along to do Etta stuff – meaning getting into trouble. Etta becomes enthrall in a book describing dangers of Australia and decides that is what she wants to explore.

At this point in the series you are very familiar with Izzy’s eclectic nature. Wait until you see her parents. You will understand why Conner is so stressed and he just wanted to make a good impression. Conner is called in to work in Queensland Australia. Izzy refuses to stay with her parents, so they all pack up and go with him. This story is the first test of them working in agreement as partners while keeping everyone in the dark about their job.

This would not be an An Eat, Pray, Die Humorous Mystery, if all kinds of madcap incidents did not happen i.e. trying to sneak a goat into a luxury hotel.
Enjoy the book.

Didn't Move the Series Along

I love this series, but the storyline didn't move anything along for me or keep me engaged. it didn't answer any real background questions. I understood that it was trying to step out of the box by going to Australia. I finished it but only because I hoped it would get better.

Bo-ring

Izzy needs to stay in L.A, get poisoned, etc. This installment is boring as hell.

It's a series made for multitasking

Dang it. I thought we were making progress with book 5 and book 6, rather than giving me some character growth, just sat there like a croc in a swamp. Ugh. I should have done more chores while listening to this series. I feel doubly unproductive.
