About this listen

Sixteen years ago, Princess Halla of Yshrem saved the life of an eight-year-old barbarian boy and watched her kingdom fall to ruin, all on the same day. Now, she is a forgotten spinster in a quiet temple, living her days out in solitude. The last of her line, she exists in the hope that she has been forgotten, for to be remembered by the enemy is to be certain death.

One person has not forgotten her. Mathior, now 24, is the fierce warrior king of the Cyclopae. Yshrem is in turmoil and his advisors have a suggestion - kill the last remaining member of the royal line, and there will be no rivals for the throne.

Mathior has a different idea. He's loved Halla for 16 long years, and it's time he claimed her as his wife. But a barbarian's wedding customs are unlike any other...

Contains mature themes.

Not to insult the author but I fast forward to the end just to hear the epilogue. Storyline not interesting.

Not the best storyline.

Great narration, great story.
It’s an easy listen that you can go through very quickly. The plot makes sense logically.

Another Wonderful Ruby book

I don't love this particular "world" of Ruby's and this book dragged a little for me, even as short as it was. I mean it's a fast read and super low angst - like practically none - but it didn't hold my interest really.

Ok but

This book sounded so good. It’s all about a wedding and all the nakedness and touching.

Ummm not for me

The characters'voices were great and matched well. The story had romance and erotic scenes perfect mix.

A real love story

This story was delightfully sweet and spicy. Can be read as a standalone but the whole series is great. Childhood friends to lovers is my favorite trope but this is so well done anyone would enjoy.

Delightful, quick read, can easily be a standalone

This a really good short story, it have a kingdom, different strong man and delicate princess. I hope it turns into a series.

Good short story

Sweet and short... but a little too much sex scenes. I like slow burn stories.

If you have read any of Dixon's Anchor and Aspect books then this is the a quick spin off novella she did for a "royal brides" compilation she and other authors wrote for so yes, it is short and a bit recycled. What I liked about it was that it tied into an event in the 1st Anchor and Aspect book with the battle god so it was nice to get the background of the kingdom where the last stand takes place.

It also helps that as of right now, this novella is free for Plus members. It at the very least gives you a quick sample of the Aspect and Anchor world and Ruby Dixon's general style of writing. So I would recommend it if it is free for you. Considering I love the series this was from, I also highly recommend checking out those books too
