What happens when you make a pact with your boys to stay single and never fall in love? Well, you get the Playboy Pact.
We were friends, she and I. Best friends. It was easy, simple, and comfortable; that was our dynamic. We had a system, an understanding, an unspoken arrangement. We were there for each other through thick and thin. We had an unbreakable bond. Nobody understood our friendship. Because a guy and a girl couldn’t just be best friends without emotions getting involved, right?
Without noticing, everything shifted, and I was experiencing all these new feelings.... Jealousy. Possessiveness. For the first time in my life, Mila wasn’t merely a girl I trusted and hung out with on a regular basis. She had become the woman with whom I was in love.

This author is a good author but her endings seem to fall flat (this is my second book from her) Chapter 29 sealed the nail in the coffin for me. Caine is a snake imo, he could’ve gotten them to act on their feelings without making sexual advances on her.
You don’t kiss your “best friends” girl to prove something they already know. By that point in the story Leo already let Caine know where his head was. I wouldn’t be able to forgive Caine liking her for real or for fake. He deserved more than a broken nose.
And Mila using Leo’s “best friend” to see if she could move on was twisted especially because she did it because Leo didn’t want her to stay and derail her life for him. How could she not understand that he wouldn’t want her to resent him? That’s so unfair and by that point I felt like he should’ve had a better love interest. She even talks about wanting him to fight for her, but he reached out to her every day for TWO MONTHS and she replied to him twice (once was when he called from a number she didn’t know).
Books like this one is weird because it’s almost as if these authors want young women to think that men should control them and have the final say in their life actions. Leo not asking her to stay was the right decision, you don’t have to stay because you’re in love, you can still venture out and make memories FOR YOU. (Even he hooking up and having only Caine as a friend was weird because that’s not loving your own life, it’s staying complacent and comfortable by trying to act like he’s Leo or something), venture out and if you decide it’s not for you, you can go back home but young women absolutely should be told to spread their wings.
Young women should NOT make life choices based solely on high school sweet hearts, love interests, and besties. Mila and Caine went from likeable characters to leaving a bad taste in my mouth in the span of 5chapters.
