Publisher's summary
Summer in the year of our Lord 1365. On the night after the Corpus Christi procession, a man is brutally murdered on the steps of York Minster. The next morning his severed hand is found in a room at the York Tavern - a room hastily vacated by a fellow guild member who had quarreled with the victim. Archbishop Thoresby calls on Owen Archer to investigate.
As Owen tracks the fleeing merchant, he uncovers a conspiracy involving a powerful company of traders, but his only witness is a young boy who has gone into hiding, and his only suspect is a mysterious cloaked woman. When Owen discovers a link between the traders and a powerful coterie in the royal court, he brings his apothecary wife Lucie into the race to find the boy before he is silenced forever by the murderers.

A local lord asks him to track the killer of a young woman whose bones have been found in the castle cesspit. It's 1910, and Daniel Pitt is a reluctant lawyer who would prefer to follow in the footsteps of his detective father. When the biographer Russell Graves, who Daniel is helping defend, is sentenced to execution for the murder of his wife, Daniel's Pitt-family investigative instincts kick in, and he sets out to find the real killer. With only 21 days before Graves is to be executed, Daniel learns that Graves is writing a biography of Victor Narraway, the former head of Special Branch and a close friend of the Pitts. And the stories don't shed a positive light. Is it possible someone is framing Graves to keep him from writing the biography-maybe even someone Daniel knows in Special Branch? The only answer, it seems, lies in the dead woman's corpse.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Review of The Lady Chapel
Except for Archbishop Thoresby's vicious attitude toward Alice , the King Edward III's mistress, I found the sentiments, motives & actions of the characters understandable & convincing. The action evolved organically & with enough suspense to keep the reader fascinated & involved.

Wonderful!
My favorite book in the Owen Archer series. I read them several years ago. I'd love to find all of them on audio.
Ms. Robb's research really shows up in the stories and her characterization of her people gets better with every book.
The narrator was excellent really brought the folks to life.
Thanks again for another job well done!!

Excellent historical novel!
Robb portrays the times in a realistic fashion. The characters have depth and psychological breadth. And the mystery is woven into historical events and figures of the day.
