About this listen

A gifted storyteller, historian, and a member of the Sicunga Lakota Sioux, Joseph M. Marshall III has dedicated his entire life to spiritual fulfillment and to teaching others the essence of Lakota wisdom.

In The Lakota Way, Marshall shares his own story and many others imparting the wisdom of the Lakota culture. These stories express the heart of his Native American philosophy and the 12 core qualities that are crucial to the Lakota way of living: bravery, fortitude, generosity, wisdom, respect, honor, perseverance, love, humility, sacrifice, truth, and compassion. Rich with storytelling, history, and folklore, The Lakota Way offers a fresh and compelling outlook on spiritual and ethical living.

These short stories are wonderful! Even my 8 year old was intrigued. We listened to them on his way to school this morning. As I dropped him off at school he said, “Mom don’t listen to the rest without me!” I highly recommend The Lakota Way.

A series of six short stories linking the Lakota people to the flora, fauna, earth, and each other. This was a peaceful listen. I originally searched for Diversity and Inclusion books and was so pleased to land on The Lakota Way.

Highly recommend. Mr. Marshall does a separate reading of the short stories found in the full book. If you enjoy this you should also listen to the full book. Authentic accounts of one of the many indigenous tribes. While I’m aware of white privilege in the telling of history(yes I’m Euro-American) so I can say that. I was still surprised at a few details about a few of the people things were said about. Anyhow. A talented story teller with valuable stories full of insight and lessons. Thank you Mr. Marshall.
