About this listen
The unabridged, digital audiobook edition of Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian, the unbelievable finale to the multi award-winning Artemis Fowl series. Read by the actor Nathaniel Parker.
Is this Armageddon for the Artemis Fowl?
Opal Koboi, power-crazed pixie, is plotting to exterminate mankind and become fairy queen. If she succeeds, the spirits of long-dead fairy warriors will rise from the earth, inhabit the nearest available bodies and wreak mass destruction. But what happens if those nearest bodies include crows, or deer, or badgers - or two curious little boys by the names of Myles and Beckett Fowl?
Yes, it’s true. Criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl’s four-year-old brothers could be involved in destroying the human race. Can Artemis and Captain Holly Short of the Lower Elements Police stop Opal and prevent the end of the world?

Artemis has gone full circle
I enjoyed the final book in the series, just as much as all the other books. Artemis has really grown as a character, and the old gang are back together for a final adventure!
A lot happens in this story, and not all of it is nice! I think the writer really pushed the boundaries. The performance was great as always.

It’s pretty good
I like the main story line (I must agree it’s a little complex) but overall it’s sort of easy to understand. Nathaniel Parker’s performance isn’t that bad but I still prefer Gerry O’Brien’s performance. So 4/5 for performance, 5/5 for story, and 9/10 overall.

Ending a let down
The ending was just too sudden and felt lacking in creativity. Felt like a let down

This is a great book, full of suspense and excitement. And I would say that it is for about 9-12 year olds

You can feel it is the last in the series
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I have been a hugh fan of Artimis Fowl in the first 7 novels, and really like the interaction between the fairy world and normal people, the high pace and the funny plots. But I must say that you can feel that Eoin Colfer has run out of momentum for the last book in the series and you have a feeling that he really wants to close it. When you are used to a large diversity in new high tech gadgets and a really funny dialog this book is somewhat disappointing and a bit boring.I would recommend to read the first 7 novels and leave it at that.

Weak ending unworthy of Artemis Fowl, imo
I really didn't like the ending - if an author wants to make a drastic decision, they should stand by it, imo. I didn't like where the story was going, but I would still have preferred it if the author stuck to his decision instead of pulling out at the very end.
Also, I think that this was definitely the weakest entry in the series. Best part of the series - Artemis being few steps in front of everyone else every step of the way - was missing throughout the whole story. Worse still, he was fumbling throughout it, so much so that any other instance of him would be ashamed of it.
I also found Mulch's appearance to be very deus ex machina imo, and he was only in the story to serve that one purpose.
Nathaniel Parker was still an awesome narrator, tho.
