About this listen

Follow Victor Adams' hilarious dystopian satire of American life. From a disastrous Disneyland Selfi-Park to tongue-twisting corporate sloganeering and 'investment ready' lawsuits. You'll wonder where fiction stops and reality starts.

Teri Bradshaw finally conquered life; she got rich. Her TSA agents have been robbing airport passengers for a decade. She ships all her stuff down to Nicaragua to resell around the world. But when that country spirals into civil unrest, can her scheme survive?

In the fires of the Nicaraguan revolution, Christian discovered a lost Spanish treasure. It's his ticket out. Btu the one friend who could smuggle it out got trapped in the US by its failed legal system and the cartoonish new expectation lawsuits.

Lainey, the jilted wife of one of Teri's boyfriends, can prove the sly CEO is a crook. She had to go to Colombia to do it, and now the freedom of expat life beckons. She'll have to decide whether to follow Lady Justice's example or return to the US and risk being The Last One Out.

Adventurous Read

I found the story to be a bit lengthy and prejudice towards US lawyers (one of my family members is a first amendment lawyer and a truthful do gooder”.) But certainly the satirical nature of the author’s insights and sense of humor inaugurated many “ lol” moments. An appreciation of Latin American culture and geography was also a positive dynamic.
But more than anything I loved the interesting characters that especially came alive through the expertise of the narrator. Besides being very articulate, the use of varied accents and emotional inflections made this novel come to life. A 3/5 on the story and a 5/5 on the narration, aided in making this book an exciting adventure!

Well-written, well-performed, but convoluted

The performance quality of this book is top-notch. The voiceover guy does a great job with the accents and voices and keeping them unique despite there being like 60-something characters throughout the bool.

The quality of the writing was good in terms of line-by-line prose. It was witty and at times quite humorous, which was clearly the author’s intent. I actually laughed out loud a few times at the absurdity of some of the situations in the book.

The story, however, dragged on for a lot of the book. The pacing was kind of slow, with some chapters being entirely backstory and explanation rather than actual narrative that moved the story along. This is a convoluted book—lots of characters, lots of odd things happening. I found myself losing my focus at times because it just kept scraping along.

The characters were pretty well thought-out, and they seemed unique and interesting. It’s like the author did everything right except for the pacing and reducing the unnecessary complexity of the story. If the author can develop a better story and a better high concept next time, I think his writing could combine with a stronger story to yield a really fantastic result.

Thank you, May I have another.

It took me a couple chapters before I was hooked, but the writing style ( very detailed description) combined with the narrators graphic narrating style made this a very enjoyable experience.

Before I new it I was looking for tasks I could do while listening to the book. Just so I could make time to hear what happened next.

Maybe some foreshadowing of another book? Keep them coming Victor, Ill take a double.

Engaging story, colorful narration

Really enjoyed this audio book! It took a while to get into the story, but after a few chapters, I was hooked on the plot twists and clever cynicism. The narrator's expressiveness, and the variety and personalities behind the unique voices of the many characters drew me in, and brought the story to life.
