Publisher's summary

Reporter Kate Kilroy accepts an assignment to travel on the Valkyrie, a German ship veiled in secrecy for decades after it was discovered adrift in 1939 with only one passenger aboard, a baby boy named Isaac Feldman.

Obsessed with understanding his origins, Feldman has spent a small fortune restoring the Valkyrie to try to solve the mystery. Assembling a team of experts and sparing no expense, he aims to precisely recreate the circumstances of the Valkyrie's doomed final voyage. Little does Feldman or his team know that the ship has an agenda of its own. As the Valkyrie begins to weave its deadly web, Kate realizes that she must not only save herself, but the world as she knows it.

I love this story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, and I have. The author draws the reader back and forth in time. I love ghost stories, and this is one great story. I felt chilled at times listening.

What other book might you compare The Last Passenger to and why?

Probably Twisted by Andrew E. Kaufman. Both authors and both narrators did a great job of presenting the ghost-like, psychological aspect of their stories.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It's difficult to say because the author builds suspense throughout the story. However, the narrator makes that suspense come to life with her powerful voice and energy.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I couldn't. I had life to attend - darn it.

Any additional comments?

Excellent, five-star story and narration.

Different

The book started iff slow and I almost put it down. Just when I thought that is it.. the book all of a sudden picked up speed and things started happening. It turned out to be a great book. The narrarator did a great job dragging me kicking and screaming into this book.

You unlock this door with the key of imagination.

So I read the handful of the reviews posted about this book. And personally I find a deplorable that a person has never written more than a 2 paragraph review would demean the hundreds and thousands of hours that an author puts it into a hundred thousand word novel but thats off topic. A great many of them like to compare this book 21 one by Jeremy Robinson. However what seems like comparing apes to mammoths. Jeremy Robinson likes to write epic adventures beyond the scope of reality though this one is pushing the boundaries of your imagination I find it more like The Twilight Zone on scope. It's more like a Rod Serling adventure into what is possible as opposed to an epic JRR Tolkien or Jeremy Robinson adventure where the objective seemes to be " let's see how far we can push into the absurd before people will stop reading." Personally I found it very well worth the read, characters complex and interesting and push the boundaries of social norm. Its difficult to blend two realities seamlessly as the author has done it in this piece of work with a truly haunting setting. Its very much like the Outlook Hotel on the seven seas. What should also be noted is the true and very dark history that set the stage for this novel, as well as the complex folklore that sets the stage for the dramatic events in the central plot.

It's a ok ghost story with geat narration.

I was hoping for a clever time travel story or something along those lines bur this was a basic ghost story - well written and narrated, but lacking.

The ship is more or less an unnecessary prop and the story never explains or uses Nazis, might as well been aliens or cavemen.

While some have posted the main themes of Nazis and time travel, this really didn't capture either of these. This is simply a ghost story set at sea with a psudo-clever twist which ultimately doesn't matter to the rest of the novel.

Entertaining Sci-Fi Mystery

Where does The Last Passenger rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am not a fan of Sci-Fi but this summary dragged me in as I had found it in the Angela Dawe reads. It had a nice flow for Sci-Fi

Would you recommend The Last Passenger to your friends? Why or why not?

Good listen if you like a mystery and Sci-Fi. This book was entertaining and a bit on the romantic side which I felt made it good but not mushy.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I purchased this book as I am a huge fan of Ms Dawe. I love her male voices.
See Marcia Clark Samantha Brinkman series as she makes the heroine great.
If you like romance see Tiffany Snow series my fave. Ms Dawe Scotsman voice is top notch, see Nora Robert MacGregor series

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Robert does his hero thing...ah and sigh!

Any additional comments?

Note I do use the new 1.25x speed to match the author's intent.
