About this listen

Present day American politics are at a historical state of divisiveness. Democrats and Republicans alike cling to their respective ideologies, their grip more firm today than yesterday. Both parties claim to only want what is best for the American people, but they ultimately fail the litmus test of whether or not their ideals align with the principles of liberty.

The Liberty Solution proposes a bold rekindling of the flame of liberty, while highlighting the various ways that the federal, state, and local governments usurp the natural rights belonging to each and every individual, whether they know it or are entirely unaware. Using both historical evidence and news stories of today, Wills presents his case of grievances against the state, and explains not only how, but why these acts usurp our natural rights.

This modern philosophical treatise concludes by illustrating how the world would actually look should the tree of liberty be allowed to grow, without the constricting hand of the state interfering in her growth. Liberty is not merely a solution to the issues, but the solution. If liberty were allowed to thrive, we would all find ourselves in a much more desirable state of being, regardless of the political party to which one subscribes.

This book is a great stepping stone to the writings of Mises, Rothbard, etc. and does stellar job as to why the idea of the state is doomed to fail. Introducing the idea of Anarcho-Capitalism is only the beginning.

Fantastic introduction to the idea of Liberty

I may be too pragmatic for the ending, but the rest it an amazingly thorough and entertaining lesson on the philosophy that underpins American ideals!

Great back-to-our roots narrative of LIBERTY!

Absolutely loved this book, the author goes into so much depth in the philosophy. Obviously well thought out and morally consistent. Everyone should read this.

Unfathomably Based

Great argument for way less government than we have now, without getting too partisan one way or the other. Only issue I really had was his comments on illegal immigration, which he states should not be illegal, and that Trump was wrong when he said they were sending SOME rapists and murderers and other criminals, he goes on to state “crimes committed by citizen vs illegal aliens in border states are essentially 1:1 as a ratio but what he forgets is that nearly doubled our violent crime rate and 1 murdered or raped American at hands of an illegal alien should never happen bc they shouldn’t be here to begin with

Makes a great argument

I enjoyed the book a lot. Derek narrated very well! The research and data provided makes a very convincing case for libertarianism!

A Great Start for Liberty

The book was great! Derek does a great job covering a bit of everything. The points made in the book are easy to follow and well-reasoned. Even if you don’t agree with a particular conclusion he draws in the book, the way he frames the topics makes it easy to compare your own line of logic with his. You don’t have to be a raging anarchist to get a lot out of it, but you’ll probably be closer to a raging anarchist at the end than you were when you started!

Excellent, Approachable Ancap Primer

This books explains what is wrong with our nation, the land of the owned. And goes in great detail about how it should have been, and what it would take to fix it. Buy this book in paperback and listen to it. You won’t regret it.

Ideas and philosophies once thought insane or “conspiracy theory” are slowly seeping through the decades of lying, corruption and theft. Nice little package to present that lefty that teetering on moving over to….”The Dark Side” of true Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Great info for Noobies
