Publisher's summary

How can he choose between duty and the woman he’d give his life for?

When Blaire Culpepper returns to England, she hopes to finally declare her love to dashing Lieutenant Julian Drake. Except, in her absence, he’s inherited his brother’s estate, sold his commission, and has been courting another woman. According to the rumor mills, a marriage announcement is expected any day.

From the moment Julian laid eyes on Blaire many month ago, she entranced him. But as soldier far beneath her station, he battled his growing fascination. When his brother dies, Julian social status changes. But so does his newfound intentions of courting Blaire and winning her hand....

Circumstances and honor have forced him into considering a union with another woman. But that means breaking Blaire’s heart and his own as well....

For an adventurous pause-resisting regency historical romance novel brimming with suspense, passion, and tenderness, read the fifth book in the Blue Rose Regency Romances: The Culpepper Misses.

Though this book is part of a series, it can easily be listened as a stand-alone.

A Tangled Web

Blair Culpepper has just returned from a finishing school in Switzerland and is anxious to see the man she loves and declare her love and get on with their future. However in her absense, the Lieutenant, Julian Drake, has inherited an estate, so he is no longer an impoverished soldier. He is now obviously courting his deceased Brother's betrothed, Daphne Trudow. Every where Blair goes, she sees them. At every opportunity, Daphne doesn't hesitate to let her know that she is now Julian's betrothed and will tolerate no encroachment on her territory-Julian.

Blair decides to leave London for her family's estate. On her trip, things go horribly wrong during a bad rainstorm on a treacherous road. Her carriage comes across a badly wrecked carriage that is blocking the road. It is Julian's carriage and it is from this incident that the tangled web emerges.

In my opinion, this is Collette Cameron's best book so far. it has everything romance readers are looking for!

Good to the Very End

No doubt this book was really good. Loved the characters and even the little surprise “bad guy”.

Perfect Ending

Upon learning that Julian Drake, the man she loves, feels honor bound to marry his deceased brother’s pregnant betrothed, Blaire leaves London. She is surprised when on her way to Culpepper Park; she comes across a carriage accident involving Julian, his intended, and her mother. She rescues them and they all take rooms at a nearby inn. Julian has a serious head injury, and when he regains consciousness, he cannot remember who or where he is, or anything else. This causes quite a conundrum for our hero and heroine, but as they say, Truth will out. Blaire and Julian are great characters, and I love how they come to know each other again as he recovers his memory. The Trudeaus are an obnoxious pair of shrews with no redeemable characteristics. The story is fast-moving and suspenseful. There are a few surprises, some happy, some sad, romance and humor. Stevie Zimmerman’s narration is always a pleasure and her performance here is no exception.

Five girls, five stories, an awesome series, and the heartwarming epilogue from The Lady and the Lieutenant is the perfect way to bring it to a close.

Lovely story

I really enjoyed this story and the narrator was amazing! The writing is such that you feel the pain and irritation that Blaire feels when learning that Julian is being forced to wed Daphne, his recently deceased brother's fiancee as she has told him she is pregnant. Blaire can't stay in London as her. heart is breaking so she heads to Culpepper Park. She stumbles on a carriage wreck and it is Daphne, her mother and Julian. Julian is hurt and has amnesia. He has to stay as the inn and the dr assigns Blaire to watch him. This irritates Daphne and her mother and then the schemes begin in earnest. I was ready to slap Daphne and her mom half way through the story. They do get their HEA but how they get there requires you to listen. Now I'm off to listen again to the beginning book in this series.
