Publisher's summary

From the New York Times bestselling author of Forever My Girl: The Motion Picture, Heidi McLaughlin takes you to the classic New England Coast for a summertime beach romance that leaves you yearning for love, a boat . . . a cup of clam chowdah!

After graduating from Yale, Caroline Taylor embarks on a summer long vacation in the small beach town of Seaport before she starts her corporate career at Goldman Sachs.

Dune Carter, boat captain at Blue Lobster Adventures and notorious heartbreaker, is all fun and games until he meets the one tourist who turns his head in more ways than one.

Despite her initial resistance to his charms, Caroline finds herself drawn to Dune, and his idyllic life on the island. From the endless sunny days, warm nights, sunset boat cruises, and cobblestone roads—Caroline begins to fall in love with Seaport and the boat captain.

However, turmoil strikes their dreamy island relationship, and Dune must attempt to conquer life off the water in the ways he has always conquered the ocean and show Caroline why he's worth staying in Seaport.

Entertaining read, very predictable

Main character, Caroline, seemed very naive for a college graduate. Typical summer romance: good girl falls for town playboy. Disappointed in the ending, so cliche. But, it’s a nice easy Summer read.

very enjoyable listen. a wonderful escape

I didn't want the book on Dune and Caroline to end. I compromised by starting the book all over again. IT WAS SOOOOOO GOOD!!!!

I have never been much of a beach person, the water was always cold in Northern California and Oregon. The Lobster Trap has stirred a desire to head to the coast. The author painted such beautiful seascapes within my mind. I want to dip my toes where the waves meet the beach. I want to ride the waves searching for whales. Most of all I want to walk hand in hand with Dune exploring the small coastal town of Seaport.

Dune is the man in Seaport. As half owner of Blue Lobster Adventures, he brings money to the town, helping tourists explore and spend money in the small town. His devotion to family and friends had me envious. His good looks has left women pining year after year. Then Caroline came to town.

Caroline is searching for something. Caroline is running from much. Seaport is her last hurrah before heading to New York City for a job she didn't want. Three months to find balance. Three months to find herself. Three months to last forever. She was not looking for her forever.

The Lobster Trap satisfied so many of my favorite tropes. The Lobster Trap is a small town romance taking place in lovely town of Seaport steeped in history and tourist attractions.

The Lobster Trap it a swoony romance crossing the financial barriers. Carolina wears Prada while Dune wears shorts and T-shirts. She screams filet mignon and fine wine. Dune screams fresh fish and a good IPA.

Their relationship screams forbidden. Caroline's father gives new meaning to controlling. He controls everything. Dune's parents are the parents we all want--supportive, loving, accepting, understanding. I can't say loving enough. The Carters are the family we all watched on TV and wanted to put ourselves within their family.

The Lobster Trap is jam packed with drama, so much glorious drama. Avoidance and denial always make for a very entertaining story. The Lobster Trap is very entertaining.

Like every great romance story, The Lobster Trap has someone that wants to destroy what Dune and Caroline have going for them. The big question is what will win, revenge or love? Will Dune pull out all the stops or walk away? Can Dune and Caroline make a long distance romance work or would live fade away?

Now I want to read The Lobster Trap for a third time. I want to experience the giddiness again. I want my heart to beat faster while reading Dune's words. I want to ooh and aw over Dune's attempts at romancing. I want to smile over Caroline's classiness and acceptance.
