A surprising and gripping sci-fi thriller with a killer twist

The daughter of two astronauts, Romy Silvers is no stranger to life in space. But she never knew how isolating the universe could be until her parents’ tragic deaths left her alone on the Infinity, a spaceship speeding away from Earth.

Romy tries to make the best of her lonely situation, but with only brief messages from her therapist on Earth to keep her company, she can’t help but feel like something is missing. It seems like a dream come true when NASA alerts her that another ship, the Eternity, will be joining the Infinity.

Romy begins exchanging messages with J, the captain of the Eternity, and their friendship breathes new life into her world. But as the Eternity gets closer, Romy learns there’s more to J’s mission than she could have imagined. And suddenly, there are worse things than being alone....

More like Dark Horror Sci-fi

Did we all read the same book? This was a bit too horror for me. Yes, the narrator should have toned it down a bit to allow for some variation of tone and maybe some build up? The never-ending panic and fast talking got on my nerves after a few hours and I ended up fast forwarding a bit just to get the prattling over with. Not a good sign.

The story is creepy, dark mysteries, ghosts, monsters. The weird 'romance' with a character she barely knows and in reality has no connection to is childish and off-putting. The total lack of curiosity she has about the world outside of her spaceship is strange. The whole book is strange but thats a bit of its appeal. I kept thinking she would discover she was in a program or WAS a computer program or something. In the end I was disappointed and the character never did make any sense to me. I did listen to the whole thing though so I did enjoy it I just would not listen to it a second time. Too much horror for my taste.

Kind of boring at first

This book Took a while to get good. I Really enjoyed the suspense though. I just wish there had been more going on in the first half.

I enjoyed the plot twist

Good book. Wasn’t expecting the wtf plot twist! I would recommend this book to anyone seeking a little bit of a sci fi adventure.

narrator was amazing

i saw that a few people were criticizing the narrator but i think she was spot on the entire book. the book itself did kind of seem to drag at first but once it got good, it got gooood. definitely worth listening to.

Not my favorite, but still worth a read

The first half of the story I blew right through without stopping, waiting for the twist(s), but when I got to the twist all I could think of was "is that all?" I had several different scenarios in my head, but maybe I was making it more complex than it needed to be.

In reading the reviews prior to getting this audiobook, I knew what I was in for with the narration. The hysteria in her voice was warranted for the most part, although towards the last couple of hours I could definitely feel myself getting a little annoyed. At the end of the day though, this is a story from the perspective of a 16-year-old girl, and as anyone who has been or is a teenager can probably tell you, literally everything feels like the end of the world. I can't imagine what it would be like for someone drifting in space by themselves where it literally could be the end of their own world.

All in all, this was a decent YA book, just not my favorite.

In Love with this book!!

best new book/audiobook I've heard in ages.
The unique setting and plot as well as limited number of characters makes for an intriguing story, and the story/plot itself kept me guessing and engaged throughout.

pleasantly surprised

I honestly didn't expect much from this -- it looked like a YA sci-fi romance, which doesn't excite me. However, looks can be deceiving. This took me by surprise in all the very best ways. It was twisty and very enjoyable.

Great story! Terribly narrated.

Honestly the curiosity kept me going on this one. It’s a riveting story & THE PLOT TWISTS 🤯 just incredible all around. But the narrator performs this like EVERYTHING is panic panic CHAOS scream, in a shrill voice! I struggled to get through it with just the voice she uses for Romy and J.
I wanted to give up and just pick up a physical copy of the book and just read it myself lol

predictable plot, emotive narrator

overall I liked the story, but it was rather predictable at times. the narrator put a lot of emotion into the role so her voice sounded panicked and upset most of the time. that could be a flaw or feature depending on what you like.
