Publisher's summary

There's a price to pay for a life with a greater purpose. The healing of time is a damn liar when you're living a life as a dead man with no true home, and the silence couldn't be more deafening. Counting the days, good and bad, I exist as the world keeps spinning. I can never look back. All I can do is hope I took enough out of that life to carry me forward on those dead legs. Everything that was meant to give the tragedy of my life meaning ended up holding me prisoner in this wreckage of my past.

Until now.

One look into her eyes and I'm completely disarmed. It's only everything I thought I gave up. These walls I've built to protect and shroud me crumble more whenever she's near. I've spent years waiting for a reason to breathe again, and now that I have her within reach, I'm not sure I can keep her. Is it possible to find both the missing piece of my soul and the remedy to my healing in one set of bright green eyes? Everything I thought I would never have is staring back at me saying . . . yes, I can.

Contains mature themes.

*gasp* *shocked face* *speechless*

This is an incredibly emotional book. I knew that it was the last book in the Corps Security series, but I'd lost sight of all the characters in the previous books. Let me tell you when the Hero in this book was revealed, I was talking to myself A LOT! It was so well written, too. I listened to this on Audible, and the narrator for Olivia was Maya Beechwood; she did an amazing job as Olivia and Bean. As intense as this book was, the humor written into some parts was fantastic and just what was needed.

loved this book. however, it should be read after the "Hope Town" series. This book brings both series to an ultimate end.

WOW WHAT A SURPRISE

mind blowing. but should have been placed after the 4th book of HOPE TOWN.
I AGREE that there are meny repetitive dialogues
The reading is fast in critical passages at a level that is impossible to understand even at a very slow speed. The speech is not clear

This book was written after the series about the children had already been written and in these books his return is not mentioned at all
So if the series about the children does not continue there is no sense in this book

Regarding the content itself. It's crazy that he goes with her before he tells her about the threat to Riley and before the threat is removed

The sex scenes are completely destroyed by the number
And the woman sounds 50 years old, which completely ruins the character

He changes back appearance. There is a hanging in his office that he is dead. He comes as a surprise

It is not clear what the purpose of this book of this story is.....do people even come back from the shadows? after all

Before burial there is always identification. Not recognized? Didn't they see that the closet was empty? Wasn't there a burial ceremony?

The whole conversation with Ray is long and unnecessary, they should fly away

Coop

Home

While I loved this one, I didn’t need it. In my heart the story we had already known was enough. We did not need this one. As much as the family went through, I thought there should have been some conversations about what happened. A visit to Hope Town would have been fine, we didn’t need it this way. Am I glad we got it? Yes, “Drew” deserved his girls. Riley was a pistol.

The ending I always wanted

I love Harper Sloan books. I fell in love with her books finding Axel and couldn’t stop reading all of her books from there. I have cried reading books before but never have I sobbed. When Coop was killed I was a mess. The writing was so good I felt all of the characters pain. I kept saying over and over this can’t be true. He’s not really dead. Then I, like the characters, had to face the fact that Cooper was really gone. And now. THIS BOOK! The ending that I wanted years ago. I loved it so much. Please continue to keep writing books. I love them so much.

That was painful…

It was great to get a wrap-up on one of my favorite series buuuttt…..the narration almost killed it for me. I was at 90% and ready to DNF, it was that bad. The male narrator was okay but the female narrator was terrible. It was so robotic and awkward. Definitely not what I would have expected from a Corp Security woman. I definitely should have read this one myself, then it would have gotten 5 stars.
