Publisher's summary

With humanity on the brink of extinction, they activated the EMP. Now, the world enters darkness.

It started with bright lights; a new medical technology, promising to eradicate all human ills. History of blood clots? Cholesterol clogging up the old ticker? There was a nanobot for that. It wasn’t cheap of course, and everyone knew that new technology had bugs in it. But hey, why not let the rich be the guinea pigs for once?

Fast-forward a year, and the one percent began dying en masse. The nanobots had evolved to view aging as a virus and were reacting by shutting down the host. Swathes of the population were infected before the government rolled out a treatment program in the midst of riots and mass unrest.

Meanwhile, the nanomachines spread like wildfire, infecting and killing millions. The remains of the government had no choice but to detonate a series of experimental weapons in the atmosphere, producing an EMP effect that rendered almost all electronic devices on earth useless.

Bradley is one of the survivors. A former veterinarian, he decides to escape his burning city and trek deep into the Maine wilderness, aiming to find his estranged father’s old lake house. Remembering lessons learned and long-forgotten, Bradley endeavors to survive on his own terms and be self-sufficient in a new and altogether darker world.

But his struggle has only just begun.

This is the first audiobook in K. M. Fawkes’ Enter Darkness series, a post-apocalyptic EMP series of audiobooks.

The end of the world is here, again 😁

The end of the world is here again. I’ll be honest. I took this story because the narrator Andrew B. Wehrlen always does a phenomenal job as a voice actor bringing you deep into any story he narrates. This was no exception Andrew takes Fawkes story and drags you kicking and screaming into the apocalypse that occurs due to a nanotechnology virus that has been defeated by an EMP that took out 90% of the population and all of the worlds infrastructure. This is the story of some of the survivors and their attempts to navigate the post apocalypse. Great story and great narration. I eagerly await the next installment. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Great base, just needed more....

It started out so strong, with great hope.... but went flat, and kept deflating to the point that at the end of the story, I didn't even crave for it to continue.... Nor will I be reading any possible books in this series

Survival could be just like this

I really enjoyed this story. It seems like a realistic storyline after an apocalyptic event.

Andrew Wehrlen performed very well....as usual.

It was missing something

To me the story was missing something. maybe it was action? there was not a lot of it. I do really wish it went more into the nano bots going crazy. I was kind of hoping for more of story on that before the SHTF started. Not just a chapter.

Andrew B. Wehrlen did a great job reading the story.

EMP with Nanobots

I did enjoy this different but too short apocalyptic book about a nanobot causing havoc with people who received the shot and people around them. I loved the characters of Bradley who travels to his father’s (a prepper) cabin to escape the spread and survive, also liked Anna and her son Sammy. Great narration, but abrupt ending as is a series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU!

Imaginative story of apocalypse

The Longest Nighr starts out with an imaginative apocalyptic narrative and then tells a story of survival . The main characters are flawed but sympathetic. It has a fast moving storyline. Although this is the start of a series, it is an excellent stand alone novel. Andrew Wehrlen gives an outstanding narration and his voice is a perfect fit for the central character, Bradley.

Great start

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. Having said that, I didn't expect much. I was very surprised by the quality of the writing. The story felt real and the characters had depth. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this series.

Brill post apoc

The Longest Night: Enter Darkness, Book 1 - First book I've read/listened too by K.M Fawkes and it was a very pleasant surprise, two totally opposite lead characters that bicker and interact like families do. great story line with plenty of action from beginning to end.
