About this listen

Lady Imogen Moore hasn't had an easy time of it since she made her coming out three seasons ago. With her betrothed, a powerful duke, breaking it off to wed her sister, she's become the tons favorite piece of gossip. Never again wanting to experience the pain of a broken heart, she's resolved to make a match with a polite, respectable gentleman. The last thing she wants is another reckless rogue.

Lord Alex Edgerton has a problem. His brother, tired of Alex's carousing, has charged him with chaperoning their remaining, unwed sister about at ton events. Shopping? No, thank you. Attending the theater? He'd rather be at Forbidden Pleasures with a scantily clad beauty upon his lap. The task of chaperone becomes even more of a bother when his sister drags along her dearest friend, Lady Imogen, to social functions. The last thing he wants in his life is a young, innocent English miss.

Except as Alex and Imogen are thrown together, passions flare, and Alex comes to find he not only wants Imogen in his bed, but also in his heart. Yet now he must convince Imogen to risk all, on the heart of a rogue.

Not the best in the series

A decent little story with interesting characters, even the secondary ones. Not my favorite of the series but a good addition to it.

Tim Campbell's narration is a mixed bag. His male voices are sexy and great but his women seem too girlish. Something to work on.

Good read

A great book. I always love historical romances. Courtship were conducted differently then. I love a hero who thinks he's unlovable but the last funds his redeeming qualities and shows him he is lovable

Where’s the steaminess?

Enjoyed the book but where are the intimate scenes? There was one kiss. Was expecting a little more chemistry and physical interaction. Also felt there were a lot of unfinished or unexplained situations.

Sweet!

I wasn't sure I would like the hero in this story at first. His character wasn't very nice. But as his attitude was explained through the progress of the story I began to understand there was a lot more to his character.
The story was well written and narrated. An easy to follow storyline that had a lot of passion and romance and was still quite clean considering the Hero's history. Very enjoyable!

Super story

Love this series! This book is tops! Wonderful, captivating characters. Also love the narrator! This writer is new to me. I love her shorter stories - meaning 5 hours instead of 10-15!hours like many stories. Just stoped my membership but she makes me want to renew it so I can hear more of the series.

Missing parts

I felt like I missed part of the story because what struck me as a main conflict occurred before the book began - the jilting of the heroine and betrayal by the heroine’s sister. I so wanted there to be some closure there. Instead, the mother was an oblivious title hound, the sister was unrepentant, and the former fiancé was foreshadowed to still want the heroine though that went nowhere. I had no idea what actually happened, and it was a constant question in my mind.

Therefore, the only conflict was internal conflict which didn’t really help develop the characters to the extent that actually sharing the heartache would have. In some ways, the hero’s character was better developed as we did get to “hear” the hero’s memory of his father’s cruelty.

The writing is good, but I wanted more. The narration annoyed me to some extent. The narrator exhibited a very snide undertone.

Someone wake me up.

Repetitive. Boring. The most action anyone sees is someone getting a migraine. Sigh....It could have been good.

Horrible story, horrible narration

What would have made The Love of a Rogue better?

I reviewed book 2 in the series and indicated shorter would be better, but this book is shorter, but no better! It was too confusing as to how the two characters came together. The hero is the brother of the heroine's best friend . They have known each other for years, but suddenly they fall in love with each other just over a look in the family library...how! They did not know anything about each other after years of contact.

Has The Love of a Rogue turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, just those by this author and narrator

What didn’t you like about Tim Campbell’s performance?

He has been a good narrator in previous books and would be fantastic reading non-fiction as he is clear and authoratative. He kept speaking as if he was doing a bad William Shatner impression, lots of stuttering and hesitating. All I could think of was " Scottie..beam me up!"
The voice for the " villan" Rutland was a little too sinister and sounded more like someone plotting world domination, not just taunting the hero.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Nothing that I can think of, except it was short, so the misery was over very quickly.

Any additional comments?

This series started out well and just lost it's way. Nothing was original and with other authors the themes have been handled much better.
I think I have given up on this author.
