About this listen

E. M. Forster provides a view of the future from 1909. He comes alarmingly close. Humanity has lost the ability to live above ground, but they communicate magnificently through the Machine. As a matter of fact the Machine handles just about everything, taking the freedom of choice, or the need to choose away from humankind. But when the machine breaks, can humanity survive?

Classic Forster tale!

When we become too reliant on technology, what happens?

Here's one scenario from one of the grears!

Great Story; Narrator Troublesome

Although I enjoyed the story, the narrator seems to have a speech impediment of some kind such that certain words are only understandable after 3 or 4 repetitions of the passage.

really great story

Has some important questions that are very relevant to the modern tech society. Predicts cellphones and social media in addition to America's obesity epidemic. Highly recommend it.

Fascinating peek into the past and the future

I love how this book creates a world in which people abandon their physical bodies and desires for a "better way" where there is less time waisted and more shared knowledge. It is a fear from the past that could still today could come to pass. A great story! I enjoyed the narrators tone as well. Get it!

Facebook 1909

Forster predicts facebook in 1909. Only this is more high brow, discussing music, literature, etc. People live underground and only communicate through this sort of face book. They sit and sit and sit and discuss and discuss. Hey, I know some people like that!

Yet, it would not be a story without a rebel.

Action packed lovers may be bored with this, while deep thinkers may love it. This was considered the top Science Fiction Story by some until 1965.

Guess, I am half action seeker and half deep thinker.

Great Story True Science Fiction

Mike Vendetti is a Great Narrator, Especially where the writing fits his delivery.
This is a great fiction coming true type of older science fiction, uncanny vision on the authors part. Worth a read.
