About this listen

Dave's agreement with Doc and Sally is to help the two adventurous scientists disappear into the future. But being left behind by the closest people Dave has to family isn't the bargain the 18-year-old expected. When Dave follows after his mentors, calibration issues place him centuries past his target date. Countless years and miles of wilderness separate him from Doc and Sally. Dave must survive in a primitive new world that has been waiting for him for a very...long...time....

18-year-old Dave is in for the adventure of a lifetime when he agrees to help transport time travel couple Doc and Sally to a distant future, then decides he has nothing to lose and follows the unwitting couple into the great unknown.

But, Dave is hurtled further into the future, far past Doc and Sally’s time and Dave is ill prepared for brutal and primitive future he finds himself in. Luckily for Dave, he’s found an ally in Nalia who believes he’s the fulfillment of legend she’s been warned about.

I love time travel novels and the SciFi bent on this one makes this audiobook, which clocks in at just shy of 5 hours, a winner. For a short novel, the writing of Brian Bennett doesn’t feel rushed at all, the story unfolds at just the right speed.

The audiobook is narrated by Joe Formichella and he has a distinct style of narrating, his voice is sedated and his pacing of this unique and intriguing book is unrushed. The audio quality isn’t the best but, it in no way detracts from the enjoyment of this audiobook.
