About this listen

Charlie Rhodes' life has taken a turn. Not only is she working her dream job, but she’s also taken on a dreamy co-worker and is officially dating the office security chief. Yeah, she’s still trying to wrap her head around it, too. She doesn’t have much time because a high-profile incident in Florida means the team is on the hunt, and this time the likely culprit is none other than a prehistoric shark that’s been extinct for millions of years. For Jack Hanson, the mere thought that a Megalodon is hunting the Gulf of Mexico waters is too much to bear. He’s on edge and irritated, and that’s on top of the fact that legacy foundation co-workers are starting to find out about his relationship with Charlie.

For her part, Charlie is enjoying herself. Not only is she looking for a giant shark, but she’s investigating in the middle of an author conference and the victim was the one person hated by absolutely everyone. She’s learning on the job…and it’s a tangled web of lies and intrigue to wade through. There are suspects at every turn, blood in the water, and hungry sharks looking for a meal. It’s another fun-filled adventure, and the stakes in this one are graver than anybody anticipated.

This was okay

I personally like the narrator from the previous books better. Jennifer Araya kept pronouncing Bernard's name wrong and her male voice impressions was horrible to say the lease

Megalodon Mix Up

Charlie Rhodes is an interesting character. I love the situations she gets into. Hiding in plain sight. I am enjoying the romance with Jack.

Can't wait to read more.

Looking for a Megalodon.

This was the first book i have read in this series but i had no problem with this being book 4?I enjoyed the fact the special team went to Tampa to investigate a murder possibly by a large shark. A Megalodon. Some of the team truly wanted to believe it was a Megaldon and some were skeptic. Charlie and Jack investigates while trying to keep their love life a secret. The victim is a writer attending a convention with other writers. She is not a very nice person and is hated by others. The question is was her death a accident or murder and if it was murder was it human or shark? When she is found she is partially eaten and hard to determine how she died. Is there really a Megalodon on the lose? Or was it regular sharks or what? Will Charlie and Jack crack the case? I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review at my request.

The narrator did a fantastic job. I do look forward to more in this series.

Great story!

I really enjoyed the behind the scenes story of the writers conference and am wondering if it is a roman à clef. Daring if so.

I wish Charlie used her magic more, like Zoe in another series. Maybe I am bloodthirsty. Anyway, I look forward to #5 coming soon!

This was a very enjoyable listen. It has a great combination of mystery, suspense and humor. This was my first book by this author and I am going to look for the previous books in this series.

Aggravated

I have listened to pretty much all of the books by Amanda M. Lee and absolutely love them all and I understand she needed a new narrator for the series but this new one is not very good and all of the characters sound the same. It is really hard to get into this book...

Really enjoyed it

Amanda M Lee is a new author to me although I have listened to a couple of cozy mystery books narrated by Jennifer Jill Araya previously

The narrator did a fabulous job and certainly kept me engaged as I listened to The Megalodon Mix Up ( I giggled whenever I heard that word narrated) and can I just say I love the tittle?

Charlie Rhodes and the team she is a part of, travel to Florida to investigate the death of a particularly nasty author at a convention. The big question is was is a prehistoric shark (Megalodon), a normal shark or was she murdered?

As the team, including Charlie’s secret love Jack Hanson investigate, things become more complicated. This was a book filled with intrigue, danger, suspense, twists and turns and was altogether a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

In fact I will be on the look out for more books by this author as soon as I can.

umm, idk what i was thinking…

i reviewed this book a year ago and gave it a 5 star rating. i’m not sure what i was thinking?.. i’m only into chapter two and can’t for the life of me figure out how i listened to this narrator?! and through the rest of the series no less! she’s awful. and i Really don’t like leaving a bad review, but if you thought emily was bad, she’s a genius compared to this one. there is No character differentiation, all the male characters sound exactly like the females and Those all sound the same. idk why emily had to go, she was Much better than this person. i honestly have nooo idea how i got through this whole series with her…
i Do still love it when AML breaks the 4th wall! when LHH cameos, it’s always great fun!

This book is my Jam!

This book is my Jam! I absolutely loved it, starting with Charlie (Charlene) Rhodes. She's recently out of college, a bit awkward, and totally adorable... and out on a first-date, when the book starts. And, second, she's working in her dream job as a, ummm, crypto-zoologist so essentially a monster hunter (I happen to love cryptids) and the third and best part is Charlie (and the group she works for) is investigating the suspicious death of an author, possibly from a Megalodon attack, at a writers conference! Let me say, I love books that take me to conventions and workshops about books and writing. While investigating this death, it turns out the team discovers that no one, absolutely No One is mourning the writers untimely death! Furthermore, everyone who's attending the conference had a grudge against the deceased. The number of "Easter Eggs" mounted as the story progressed, from actual author's names and pseudonyms, to events that may have actually occurred in the real world (the names being changed, of course)... all the while showing us a darker side of the indie-writing business (no, no you get no spoilers from me)!
The fact that Jennifer Jill Araya was able to narrate this story without cracking up shows me that she's serious about her craft! That or the cut and splice buttons were used effectively... LOL
So get the lighthearted cozy mystery. I'm sure you'll be as baffled as I was by all the plot twists and turns as they hunt for the killer, or maybe it really was a Megalodon!
