Publisher's summary

When your life is chaotic, what’s one more complication?

Jane Tanner’s friends are settling down, while she’s been settling for less. She longs for adventure and the big city, but caring for her ailing grandfather means she's shackled to her small town. She’s excited her vintage gift shop is finally up and running, but it’s not enough.

Longing to fulfill at least one dream—to become a mother before her biological clock ticks out—Jane drunkenly propositions the worst possible candidate for Dad. Kurt Elway is off-limits with a capital O. He’s a good friend, but he's too young, too busy running his family’s ranch. Plus, he and Jane’s sister, Kate, used to date. That kind of off-limits.

Unbeknownst to Jane, Kurt’s pining for her. When he’s fully on board to father her baby, she sees him in a new light. Then lingering baggage between Kate and Kurt suddenly surfaces and Jane is reminded of just how messy life is. But…so is parenting. Maybe it’s time to embrace the mess?

It’ll leave you wanting more

This story and its narrator were perfect. My only complaint was that it left me wanting more stories of Coyote Canyon. Jane and Kurt are perfect for each other and I loved every delicious curve and twist. Now we just need stories for Averil and Kate. Don’t miss any of the trilogy to date. Each story is unique and each one just gets better.

Something is missing

I don’t like when there are inconsistencies in the story line of a book series. There were some key incidents from previous books in the series that were either wholly glossed over or just omitted. I also felt Jane was emotionally stunted and had the wanderlust of an 18 year old. What made her think a baby was the right accessory for seeing the world. Sounds like something a teenager would think. I also thought it was naive to think she could move her successful business from small town Montana to some of the most expensive cities in the country. Didn’t make sense to me. Finally, I did not get the impression Jane was actually in love with Burt. It feels like she settled. Even though Burt was a great guy, I think Jane would always wonder if there was something out there for her.

Irritated at myself …

…for having spent the money, indulged the time and added mental disgust at such empty, dysfunctional twaddle. A storyline focused almost exclusively on the emotional development and social maturity of characters of about 15 years old — even if supposedly @25-35 in calendar years.
While I thought it might be passable as something to put on while doing simple tasks, NO!
I need a new folder for myself titled: Never Read This Author Again.

I want the earlier books

The narrator is hard to listen to
Now the book
I continually get more disappointed in the books by Ms Novak
About 5 years ago I got the 50 pin so I have read as many books as I have been able to find in ebook, print and audio.
I wish she would go back to her earlier writing. It feels like she is trying to prove something or take her writing in a way I just don’t understand.
I have loved her books but I may have to honestly throw in the towel. Writers should get better as they progress but I do not feel this way with this author.
If you like her books now, don’t read her older books. You will realize you are reading a lesser book now. Enjoy the ignorance.
I was so excited for this book. I felt Jane had a wonderful story coming. Wow what a let down. Jane was a horrible main character. I can’t think of much to say positive about her. She mad me think more of my disabled niece than of a successful woman making a job and life for herself. Did a jr high creative writing class come up with her. Seriously. It was that bad.
The best part of the book was the epilogue
The rest was a let down.
Do you want me to get into Kate and Will now?
Instantly it was like the author said abusive and cheating boyfriends should be forgiven
Let’s hit a woman so hard she falls and cuts her lip. Then grab another woman by the hair and drag her all over the house. Yes this is great. Let’s forgive him. He is good deep down although he cheats repeatedly with married women. What is wrong with that? Love is love after all and a woman can’t be alone.
