Publisher's summary

Who knew that a visit to Minnesota would be even stranger than life on the Sun? Musician and storyteller Morgan Taylor returns with another Gustafer Yellowgold tale and a collection of kid-friendly rock tunes that the whole family can enjoy.

This Audible Original begins where I’m from the Sun: The Gustafer Yellowgold Story leaves off, as our brave, young sunling prepares for his most daring adventure yet. Emboldened by a putterbike race victory against his archnemesis, Gustafer Yellowgold heads to Earth to cure his ultra-rare case of Ice-Cream-Cone-Heart. Back on the Sun, Gustafer’s older brother Ben faces the heat from Mission Control when the journey doesn’t go as planned, and young Gustafer’s fate hangs in the balance. He risks his own golden hide to find Earthlings among the lakes of Minnesota–but can he count on them to help him get his journey back on track and make it back home?

Two-time Grammy nominee Morgan Taylor has long been a hit with ever-hip parents and kids on the family circuit with his smart and catchy multimedia concerts. The Minnesota Chronicles (Gustafer’s first adventure on Earth) features 12 new songs and fresh recordings of two fan favorites, co-produced with Grammy-winning producer Dean Jones. This captivating production is perfect for family listening as well as for kids ages six and up to discover and enjoy on their own. Besides hours of delightful storytelling and music, listeners will take away some mildly revolutionary life lessons: Don’t assume, earn trust, and don’t judge an eel by its shade of purple.

Also included is a plethora of bonus material, featuring a full album’s worth of the songs from The Minnesota Chronicles, starting at Chapter 16. Only from Audible.

About the Creator and Performer

After a dozen or so years in the Dayton, Ohio indie-rock scene, mostly self-taught musical and visual artist Morgan Taylor moved to NYC in 1999 in pursuit of a life in the arts. While primarily focusing on songwriting and performing, Taylor honed his skills as a professional sound engineer. By 2004 he brought his love of drawing into the blend to self-produce the first Gustafer Yellowgold picture books, with cartoon images depicting the lyrics of some of his quirkier indie-folk pop songs. The books soon became animated, read-along music videos. The strong reaction from fans and press inspired Taylor to hit the stage with an early version of his multimedia concert in spring of 2005; within three years, he was full-time into the world of Gustafer. Over 2,000 live performances, eight CD/DVD albums, and two Grammy nominations later, Taylor is just hitting his creative stride with the Gustafer Yellowgold series.

Brilliant

We have been listening/watching Gustafer Yellowgold in our house for years! My kids love it. Morgan has a way to reach children where they are. And this story proves that again.

Our house LOVES Gustafer!

We've been Gustafer Yellowgold fans for a long time. Our older kids grew up with Gustafer, and now their younger brother is listening and singing along. We enjoy listening to Gustafer's story as much our son does. If you're looking for a way to spark your child's imagination and get them away from screens, start here. Thank you Audible!

My Daughter Was Extremely Excited...

...and so was I for part 2 of Gustafer! We have listened to it twice so far, and she keeps asking for us to listen to it again.

She learned quite a lot of the lyrics from her first listen and often plays the songs just to sing along with them. Admittedly not as grabbing to me as part 1 songs, but ok nonetheless.

My 6-yr-old and I look forward to part 3! ^.^

My 6, 9, 12 (and the very young 45 year old writing this) are so fully taken in by this weird and funny world. The music is SO good too. And he lands in MINNESOTA?! Now we can't wait for book 3!

And the hits keep coming...

Such catchy music! In addition to the songs being embedded into the story, their unedited versions are also added as bonus chapters. Combining the whimsy, inventiveness, and catchiness of Laurie Berkner music with Ben Folds Five and the Beatles influences gives you an idea of the musical style. Very enjoyable.
Oh, and the story is wonderful too! Gustafer is now on his own and as a result the tale feels even more exciting and compelling than Vol 1 (which my kids and I also love).

Five stars aren’t enough for this one!!

I thought the first volume was great, but this one: ohwowohwowohwow!!!! A darling story with great performances by the creator Morgan Taylor. He’s promised us a volume 3 so I’ll eagerly be looking out for that one...☺️☺️. BTW, don’t think this is just a kid’s story and you’re too old for it. I’m an old grandma over 65, and I found it to be utterly delightful...🥰

An even wilder ride that tops the original!

My kids and I are huge fans of the first book in this series, so we snatched this up immediately. We knew we'd like it, but had no idea it would be THIS great. It starts right where book 1 leaves off and takes all kinds of twists and turns with truly original and unexpected funny characters. The songs in this one are shorter and more story-driven, and reminds a little of Muppet Movie songs (in the best way). Kudos to Audible and the creator for a fun and unexpected sequel - it's for kids, but highly recommended for the whole family.
