Another fun adventure for Amelia and Rick

What did you love best about The Missing Heir?

I enjoyed learning about Mexico, and Amelia and Rick's adventure there. As with all this author's books, the scenery is well described. It's like taking a trip without leaving your house.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. Amelia and Rick only have a short time to find a missing heir some where in Mexico. If he is not found in time an orphanage and medical clinics will be closed.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the ending, and the surprises it brought. I don't want to give it away.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Hearing about Uncle Dell, and how much he loved the orphans and how giving he was for a rich man.

Any additional comments?

Missing Heir is a clean and sweet cozy mystery, that I found very enjoyable.

A good mystery

As Amelia and her partner Rick Bonito travel to Mexico searching for a missing heir, you cannot help but be drawn in to the mystery that is being told. The narrator did a good job with all the voices which made for an enjoyable listen.

This was a a book filled with secrets and lies. The intrigue, suspense, and danger will keep you riveted until the final chapter.

I like Amelia and Rick and to me they are perfect for one another.

This was a good suspense book, with a touch of romance. It is interesting as this series progresses to listen to the development of Amelia and Rick’s private relationship as well as their business relationship.

Fun and fast-paced cozy mystery set in Mexico!

Any additional comments?

The Missing Heir is a fun and fast-paced cozy mystery written by Linda Weaver Clarke. This book is the third story in the Amelia Moore Detective Series, which revolves around a detective agency that specializes in missing persons. In this story, Amelia is hired by cousins of Dr. Neal Woods to find him because he inherited their deceased Uncle Dell's estate. Before Uncle Dell died he dedicated his life to helping the poor in remote villages in Mexico, including opening an orphanage, which Neal and his cousins volunteered at in years past. Uncle Dell left his fortune to Dr. Neal because he wanted Neal to continue the orphanage. The problem is no one knows where to find Neal and if he is not found in about a week, Dell's fortune will be turned over to his brother and sister who intend to close down the orphanages.

What I enjoy most about the Amelia Moore mysteries is the adventure that Amelia and her sexy investigative partner Rick Bonito experience in each story. As with the other two mysteries in the series, besides locating the missing person in a foreign locale, Rick and Amelia enjoyed some sightseeing and at least one local tradition, as well as a few bad guys along the way. In The Missing Heir, they eventually find Dr. Neal in a very remote village in the mountains of Mexico, after encountering several thwarted attempts to find Dr. Neal, presumably to stop Neal from inheriting Uncle Dell's fortune. Plus Amelia and Rick had time to enjoy a native fiesta with a mariachi band and salsa dancing in between.

Diane Lehman narrated this audiobook from Audible and I was thoroughly entertained by her performance. Her narration flows naturally at an even pace and she was easy to listen to. She has differing voices for all characters, male and female, and young and old. I definitely recommend this series to those who enjoy good clean wholesome cozy mysteries.

Fiesta time!

A brother and sister hire Amelia to find their cousin Neil before time runs out and he won’t get his inheritance to keep the orphanage in Mexico open. When Rick and Amelia arrive in Mexico, they meet some adorable kids and a cute moment was when Amelia bonds with a cute baby. Soon they will discover that there is more going on. The narrator gave another spectacular performance.

Fun adventurous cozy mystery!

I have enjoyed listening to Linda Weaver Clarke's cozy mystery The Missing Heir very much. Linda's Amelia Moore Detective Series have been an enjoyable read for me and I have always been a fan of mysteries. Again, I enjoyed listening to the narration of Diane Lehman, as she expressively tells the story using interesting voices and with a clear and enjoyable voice.

Having never been to Mexico myself, it was fun to experience Amelia and Rick's journey through a part of this country as they search for the nephew and heir of Dell Murphy, who is missing. Dell's nephew was expected to continue the work at Dell's orphanage, rather than his brother and sister who would close the orphanage down. They find many obstacles in their way as they continue their search.

I really enjoyed book 3 of the series. Linda's books are very interesting, enjoyable and always a clean read. I also enjoyed the fact that it was an Audible book that I could easily listen from my Smart phone on my commute to work. A great way to "read"!

A Wild and Dangerous Foray into Mexico!

Where does The Missing Heir rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This audiobook excels. The narrator deserves much credit. Diane Lehman puts in another stellar performance. Her voice is extremely clear and her Spanish accent sounded genuine. She's quite versatile as she's previously voiced Irish and Balinese! She differentiated between the characters to where I had no problem knowing who was speaking from her voice. I loved her singing voice (again!) as she sang Mexican ditties this time around. (In the last book she sang Irish ballads with aplomb!) I certainly would not hesitate to pick up another book that she has performed.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Our two detectives travel to Mexico in a wild and dangerous search for a missing heir, Dr. Neal Woods, with the clock running out of time. The consequences of failing the mission will be dire resulting in the reading of Uncle Dell's will without Dr. Woods. The kids who had been rescued from the streets will tragically lose the only stable homes they've ever known. It really appeared that time was going to run out for most of the book, so, yes, I was on the edge of my seat through-out.

Which character – as performed by Diane Lehman – was your favorite?

Rick Bonito! Each of the books in the series feature detective extraordinaire Amelia Moore and her talented, competent, sexy partner, Rick Bonito. Rick is in love with Amelia. Amelia has never been in a relationship before and she's taking it very slow with Rick. Rick is a sweetheart and patience is obviously one of his virtues. This book featured a bit more kissing and hugging than the previous books, but, even so, this was a very clean romance with no hanky panky whatsoever. I felt that Amelia showed a needier side in this installment that she hasn't shown before. She didn't seem as sure of herself and, at times, 'lost' it. Thank goodness, Rick was there to save the day. I hope the more assured Amelia returns in the next book as I prefer her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were a few! A few of the scenes within made lasting impressions. In one scene Amelia freaks out when she has to deal with roaches. Living in Florida, that scene was a bit over the top for me, but it more than likely wouldn't be for someone who doesn't live where the pests aren't common. As in previous books, part of their travels involves in partaking of local foods. I could most definitely sympathize with Amelia as spicy foods were an issue for her. LOL! Her impromptu Habenero Shuffle after unexpectedly eating a particularly hot meal was a hoot - but not for her! I also thoroughly enjoyed the native fiesta the couple attended complete with a mariachi band and salsa dancing.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed Amelia's and Rick's well-plotted foray into Mexico. Be prepared for a surprising twist at the end. I've become addicted to this series and can't wait to listen to the next who-done-it in this series, THE MYSTERIOUS DOLL, which will take readers to Colorado!

Another fun cozy mystery

What made the experience of listening to The Missing Heir the most enjoyable?

Well, to me the narrator always makes the experience for me as if I don't like the voice in my ear then it's hard to listen too. The narrator for this series is great and so it's very enjoyable to listen too.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Missing Heir?

The thing that sticks out to me was when they duo was in Mexico and they are trying to get away from a bad guy.

What about Diane Lehman’s performance did you like?

She does a great job and is now the voice of this series so I hope they never change narrators.

Any additional comments?

Another good book from this cozy mystery series that is based on missing persons. Amelia is a private investigator and she specializes in missing person cases.

This time two young adults come to her for help finding their missing relative. He is the heir to a lot of money and the one who will keep some orphanages open in some regions in Mexico. His other family members are not so happy about him giving all to the younger man who had a heart just like he did.

She enlist the help of her partner and love interest, Rick to go to Mexico with her and try and track down the missing heir. They only have four days to do so before a lawyer steps in and proceeds to give the money over to the others.

There is someone who doesn’t want them to find him because they run into a bit of trouble in Mexico.

I really like the Ameilia Moore stories because you get to travel around the country. In book one it was Bali, book two was Ireland and now Mexico. I also like that they are not your typical cozy mysteries because they are mostly just surrounding missing person and not murdered bodies.

I really like Amelia and Rick and I love how they are with each other. I especially like how Rick takes it slow with Amelia cause she seems a bit gun shy with relationships. I love their bucket list quest and his always seems to be so sweet like, helping at the orphanage.

If you enjoy cozy mysteries then I think you will enjoy this series as well.

The Missing Heir - A Great Cozy Mystery

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This third book in the Amelia Moore series was just as enjoyable as the others. I appreciate the fact that the story stands alone, but I recommend reading the books in order because of the relationship of Amelia and her partner Rick.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Missing Heir?

I enjoyed the descriptions of the places they visited in Mexico. Linda Weaver Clarke has a wonderful talent of setting and descriptive language.

What does Diane Lehman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Diane Lehman's narration brings the book to life. She is a talented narrator with different voices for each of the characters.

Any additional comments?

I love how Amelia is smart and capable and how Rick is the good-looking skilled defender. A couple times, however, I was frustrated that Amelia seemed a little helpless and naive, which seemed out of character for the savvy detective I had pictured. I found myself wanting her to have her own set of self-defense skills or gun expertise or something that sets her apart as her own force to be reckoned with. Linda Weaver Clarke is an accomplished writer and I hope there are many more books in the Amelia Moore series to come.

The Missing Heir

Clarke returns with readers to the Amelia Moore detective agency for another fun filled novel that I’ve absolutely fallen in love with. The plot was intricately woven, clean, and a blast. The final key to completing this case definitely wasn’t something I expected, even if I secretly wished for it. It was definitely a unique twist, and the final ‘who-dun-it’ left me speechless.

Amelia and Rick are a blast to adventure and sleuth with. Amelia is priceless. She’s so perfectly helpless at times and completely brilliant at others. Her reactions and conclusions never failed to make me giggle. I enjoyed the peek at Amelia’s past as she finally starts to let Rick in for real. Rick’s persona also really drew me in. His strength and self-confidence were a winning combination for me. Throw in a sense of humour and love for food? You can’t go wrong. I also enjoyed the varied supporting cast that Clarke fills this novel with. I enjoyed each in their own way, even if I didn’t necessarily like them.

And this was another fantastic, fun mystery with the Amelia Moore detective agency. Now, I’m off on another adventure to see what Amelia and Rick get up to next. But I must warn you, I was definitely craving Mexican food by the end of this novel.
