Publisher's summary
England, 1948: Semi-retired spy Leo Page and country doctor James Sommers team up to solve a decades-old mystery.
When James learns that an uncle he hasn’t heard from in ages has left him something in his will, he figures that the least he can do is head down to Cornwall for a weekend to honor the old man’s parting wishes. He finds the family home filled with half-remembered guests and unwanted memories, but more troubling is that his uncle has tasked his heirs with uncovering the truth behind a woman’s disappearance 20 years earlier.
Leo doesn’t like any of it. He’s just returned from one of his less pleasant missions and maybe he’s slightly paranoid about James’ safety, but he’s of the opinion that rich people aren’t to be trusted where wills are concerned. So he does what any sensible spy would do and infiltrates the house party.
Together they unravel a mystery that exposes long-standing family secrets and threatens to involve James more than either of them would like.

Will Sedgwick can’t believe that after months of searching for his oldest friend, Martin Easterbrook is found hiding in an attic like a Gothic nightmare. Intent on nursing Martin back to health, Will kindly kidnaps him and takes him to the countryside to recover, well away from the world. Martin doesn’t much care where he is or even how he got there. He’s much more concerned that the man he’s loved his entire life is currently waiting on him hand and foot, feeding him soup and making him tea. Martin knows he’s a lost cause, one he doesn’t want Will to waste his life on.

Great Rom Com/Mystery
I'm Romcom skeptical, especially when it's a period piece (after WW II in this case), but the characters Sebastian has drawn are complicated, believable, highly likeable (well, I suppose all Rom/Com heroes are supposed to be). It has all the characteristics of the genre, blended with a mystery, but the world Sebastian evokes, if only in one's dreams, is still a delightful place in which to spend one's mind or ear or imagination. I wish there were a third . . . and a fourth.

Great story made that much better by Joel Leslie’s
I listened to the audiobook and not only is the story great but Joel Leslie’s narration is fantastic. I just love these MCs and I hope we are going to get more in this series. I’m not normally a fan of historicals but I have really enjoyed these. I believe that is due to the characters of Leo and James and to Joel Leslie’s performance bringing them to life.
The country weekend mystery is quintessentially British and will keep you guessing until the end. Lots of clues and lots of red herrings! Leslie’s performance makes each character distinct and makes each of them come alive. He conveys the emotions of the story som much better than reading on the page would have.
The way this series sets in the 1940’s addresses homosexuality makes you realize how far we’ve come. We are by no means perfect, especially with recent political happenings but we have most definitely made quite a bit of progress. That is encouraging and will hopefully encourage people to stand up and fight now.

Love the escapade
I just can't get enough of these two and the whole village and the escapades they all get up to.
Leo and James have this great dynamitic that makes the story just roll along with them. The supporting cast is fun and well done.
I hope we get more of these

Charming!
Leo and James are back on the case trying to solve a 20-year-old missing person’s case. The case is twisty and interesting, but what really matters here is the evolution of James and Leo’s relationship. These two bring all the feelings and I loved it! Joel Leslie does a beautiful job narrating!

Delightful classic detective story
Main characters are delightful, mystery is interesting, secondary characters are well written, and time, place, and social class are convincingly represented--with the exception of a weird use of "beg my pardon" at the beginning that almost put me off bc I was worried that it indicated the kind of writer that makes one continually edit in one's head. I'm glad I kept listening! Btw, the bedroom scenes are adorable, and the narration is well done.

Nice historical gay romance
I enjoyed those title more than I thought I would. I love period pieces foe gay romance, but was a bit of a whodunit, and I'm not necessarily a fan of those. However, I did still enjoy it, and it had a great performance by the voice actor. The couple was cute, and I rooted for them the whole way. Nice little happy ending too.

Cute but a little slow
This is more of a cozy mystery. I must say truthfully I found myself actually bored at times but kept pushing. There is hardly any romance. I don’t know maybe it’s me but I just wasn’t impressed. Joel Leslie is incredible no matter what. He does an incredible job voicing so many different characters. I don’t know why I didn’t enjoy it. Maybe again it’s just me. I wanted more sexual situations.

loved this
I was glad Joel Leslie narrated this book as well since I enjoyed his narration of Hither Page so much, and he was equally great in this one. Cat Sebastian wove a story together so well of people realizing the person they love loves them back just as much while also solving a mystery, and this audiobook passed the time on my road trip in a delightful fashion.

Solid Romance Mystery
Cat Sebastian has a knack for believable couples doing less than believable things and making me feel all the good vibes of character growth and intimacy. This was no exception. I also appreciate that she’s pro-queer, pro-kink, and writes in a socialist lens. Not enough romance manages those things.

As always another outstanding performance by Joel Leslie
This is the second book in the Page and Somers series. I enjoyed it and I think the audible version is a must. I cannot stress enough how much Joel Leslie’s cadence and tone combined for a beautiful lyrical experience. You can just feel the deeper emotional bonds being formed between Leo and James in spite of society’s constraints.
This book focuses on a weekend in the country James shows up at a relatives estate for the reading of a will. He and all family members present are tasked with unraveling the mystery of a missing relative. Of course Leo finds a way to be by his side throughout the weekend 😊
There is so much to unpack and the solution is brilliant something I didn’t see coming. I hope this series continues I want to understand a bit more of Leo’s past and so does Leo. He just doesn’t know it yet
Highly highly recommend this book and any other book by this author
