Publisher's summary

If you want to discover the captivating history of the Mongol Conquests, then pay attention....

The Mongols were also known to be both merciful as well as tolerant. Moreover, their conquests weren’t aimed against civilized life; in fact, they helped connect numerous cultures and facilitated the spread of ideas and knowledge across the continent. Of course, the Mongols themselves were not uncultured brutes, as they had their own civilization, society, and traditions. With all that being said, this does not mean they were innocent for all the destruction they caused. Instead, it is implied that the Mongols weren’t like fire, causing annihilation wherever they passed. They were more like water, capable of causing floods and carving mountains while at the same time creating fertile soil and giving life.

Like many other topics in history, the Mongol story has more than one side, and this book will try to present as many as possible. It will explore both the bloody history of Genghis Khan and his conquests while showing that he and his fellow Mongols were capable of much more than that. Diving deep inside their culture and society, we’ll cast off their barbaric image.

In The Mongol Conquests: A Captivating Guide to the Invasions and Conquests Initiated by Genghis Khan That Created the Vast Mongol Empire, you will discover topics such as:

  • Origin of the Mongols
  • Rise of Genghis Khan and the unification of the Steppes
  • The Mongol Conquest of the East
  • Genghis Khan’s revenge
  • Death and succession of the Great Khan
  • From unity to division - Genghis’ Heirs
  • The last of the Great Khans
  • The Mongol war machine
  • Mongol state, society, and culture
  • And much, much more!

A True World History

This is a pretty good tale of the Mongol influence. Much of the book is about replacement empires, following the breakup of the massive victories than moved from Korea to Poland. It also explores the status of descendants of Chingis Khan, who remained a pool of potential victors for centuries.

Five Stars

It covers the origins of the empire, the development, and peace of the several Chingatid states (such as the Ilkhanids in Persia). Chapters include Mongol rule (rather difficult for its time), the black death, the Mongol way to making war, and more.

Good Overview of the Topic

All and all, for anyone seeking an introduction that only affects on this topic (as opposed to examining it in depth) with only about an hour to an hour and a half to spare, this is audible to follow.

Great Book

A bit more detail about the Mongol's campaign invasion of Viet Nam and the tried invasion of Japan would have been nice. Overall it is a great book that doesn't glamorize the Mongols nor does it demonize them.

Easily one of the better audible on this topic.

One requiring a full in-depth look at the Mongol Empire as well as the Mongolian The Mongol Conquests would do well to know with purpose.

This audible is OK,

A bit repetitious at times, but the intro chapter is an especially helpful review of Mongolian history. A good summary of how and why the Mongols did what they did great.

Interesting but short

I enjoyed listening to this audible. It was very interesting, I just wish he had more attack details highlighting the principles he went over in the rest of the audible.

Great inspiration

A fascinating glimpse inside the tactics and armament the Mongols used in their wide-flung victories. The audiobook seemed to be well researched.

Beautiful

The audible mostly focused on tactics and situations, rather than some overarching narrative. I appreciated it.
