Publisher's summary
Two best-selling Agatha Christie novels in one great audiobook
In Agatha Christie's class mystery Murder on the Links, Hercule Poirot attempts to unravel the grisly conundrum of not one, but two dead bodies discovered on a French golf course.
An urgent cry for help brings Hercule Poirot to France. But he arrives too late to save his client, whose brutally stabbed body now lies face down in a shallow grave on a golf course.
But why is the dead man wearing an overcoat that is too big for him? And for whom was the impassioned love letter in the pocket? Before Poirot can answer these questions, the case is turned upside down by the discovery of a second, identically murdered corpse....
Performed by Hugh Fraser
The most widely read mystery of all time - now a major motion picture directed by Kenneth Branagh and produced by Ridley Scott!
"The murderer is with us - on the train now...."
Just after midnight, the famous Orient Express is stopped in its tracks by a snowdrift. By morning, the millionaire Samuel Edward Ratchett lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Without a shred of doubt, one of his fellow passengers is the murderer.
Isolated by the storm, detective Hercule Poirot must find the killer among a dozen of the dead man's enemies, before the murderer decides to strike again.
"What more...can a mystery addict desire?" (New York Times)

Story
Edgar Allan Poe elevated the gothic story, developed the unreliable narrator, recast psychological terror, and reveled in both the horror and the supernal beauty of death. From Poe's rich, unrivaled imagination comes a collection of his most masterful works, including "The Black Cat", "The Fall of the House of Usher", and, of course, "The Tell-Tale Heart". Each story explores morbid themes of grief, greed, fear, and guilt, and together they embody Poe's grotesque obsessions...even the dread of being buried alive.

Story
Cassandra Bowden is no stranger to hungover mornings. She's a binge drinker, her job with the airline making it easy to find adventure, and the occasional blackouts seem to be inevitable. She lives with them and the accompanying self-loathing. When she awakes in a Dubai hotel room, she tries to piece the previous night back together, counting the minutes until she has to catch her crew shuttle to the airport. She quietly slides out of bed, careful not to aggravate her already pounding head, and looks at the man she spent the night with.

Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Then, Wimsey returns to England when his brother, the Duke of Denver, is accused of murdering the fiance of their sister, Lady Mary, and a trial in the House of Lords looms; and finally, an overheard conversation in a restaurant begins an investigation of the strangely premature death of wealthy and terminally ill old lady Miss Agatha Dawson.

To the modern eye, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table have many similarities to our own contemporary super-heroes. Equipped with magical powers, enchanted swords, super-strength, and countless villains to take on, they protect the weak and innocent and adhere to their own code of honor. Comparing Batman, Superman, and Captain America to Sir Launcelot, Sir Tristram, and Sir Galahad isn't a huge leap of the imagination.

Two Great Books for One Credit
Agatha Christie is the Queen of Mystery for a reason, both of these novels are masterpieces of thrilling detective work and will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole ride.
The world famous "Murder on the Orient Express" finds our detective Poirot stranded in a strange country on a luxury liner where he must pour through alibis, backstories, and evidence to find the murderer among the passengers. One of, if not the greatest murder mystery ever written, this novel is spectacular and is worthy of all its praise.
The lesser known paring, "The Murder on the Links" is wonderful in its own right too. Contrasting with the eerie setting of the Orient Express and its methodical, slower paced detective work, "The Murder on the Links" is a wild ride of a mystery told from the point of view of Poirot's dear friend who is just as hopelessly lost as the reader. Whereas the Orient Express will have readers utterly perplexed until the very end, this novel will have you absolutely sure of the murderer on more than a handful of occasions just to still shock you in the end.
An excellent use of a credit and one of the best value options in the Audible library.

More than delightful!
Greatly enjoyed listening to Hugh Fraser (Poirot’s Captain Hastings), narrate a Christie story I haven’t read or seen filmed. Spoiler ahead: I’ve never known of Hastings to have a love interest, which added to the fun, and in my mind the part of Cinderella, by her second appearance in the story when I first suspected she’d have an important role, was played by the younger version of Belinda Lang, Fraser’s real-life wife. I’d also never heard Fraser perform a book; he’s so good I’ll have to look up what other things he’s done.
As to Dan Stevens, he’s my very favorite book performer, and his extraordinary acting talents are brilliantly on display in a densely populated story such as Murder on the Orient Express. He gives to each character such a unique voice that once the listeners know their voices, we almost don’t need to be reminded by the text who is speaking, unless our listening has been interrupted. What we DO lose track of is the fact that it’s just one person, Dan Stevens, who is creating this whole roomful—or dining car full, in this case—of distinct individuals, because thanks to the author we’ve imagined a different face and physique for each. I’ve seen all the films and TV shows of this story, but none have I enjoyed more than Stevens’ audio version. His Poirot is more like David Suchet than any other actor who played that role—also my personal favorite. But even when he doesn’t have a full panoply of characters to voice, Dan Stevens’ perfect vocal command of every human emotion make all his audio performances profoundly rich. On film he is equally versatile. In his recent role as a robot he managed to subsume such tenderness and generosity to the required automaton template that I found myself greatly moved, thinking if people, at least in fiction, can believably program machines to be truly loving, how is it that in reality so many of us act as if we’ve lost that ability? We know all about the qualities we need to get along successfully with each other. We just repeatedly fail to recall and apply them, under duress.
