    Editorial reviews

Edgar Allan Poe is commonly recognized as a master of horror, but "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" represents another genre in which he excelled - in fact, it is commonly recognized as the first-ever modern detective story. This thrilling, chilling tale follows investigator C. Auguste Dupin as he inquires into the double murder of a woman and her daughter, parsing clues including an unidentifiable non-human hair discovered at the scene.

Kerry Shale’s performance of this adrenaline-pumping whodunit is well paced, his enunciation clear and his delivery even and eerie. Shale expertly plays with the tension in Poe’s spine-tingling text, keeping listeners on the hook until its exciting conclusion.

This man was far ahead of his time

Edgar Allan Poe is hands down one of the best writers in history. This story is so CAPTIVATING. I couldn't even answer my phone. The narrator does a fantastic job of voice acting. I felt like I was watching an actual movie with different characters. Classic!

    excellent reading of a classic

Very well-done performance of a classic and still modern tale. The reader delineates seamlessly and undistractingly between Dupin and the narrator.

Very good old book. Poe was a good writer. Back in his day, he was one of many.
