The first story the narrator hurt my ears with winey, over dramatics. The second story is a little better but still hard to get through. Not sure I can get the interest to listen to the 3rd let alone finish the 2nd. 😝

Narrator did a great job! She gives a quality performance; her guy voice could use some work, but the listening experience is still a good one.

Excellent to get the first 3 full books in this series all in one place! Loved each one!!


Lure of Obsession - 5 stars

I'm going to love reading this series! I love the premise of muses being reborn and having guardians! And of course, some type of evil out to get them! So much fun and romance!

Melanie is the first muse's story we get, Melanie is the Muse of Tragic Poetry, and her roommate, who was also a muse, has died. Melanie and the other muses suspect foul play, but the police say it was accidental. Nate Malone is the detective on the scene, and when he meets Melanie strange things begin to change for him. Melanie and Nate begin to feel a pull towards each other, but both have reservations about the situation.

I love that there is a bit of mystery to the story, and I enjoyed the action scenes. Melanie and Nate have great chemistry, and are really sweet with each other. The sex scenes had just the right amount of spice and heat and emotion! Nate was a sweetheart and I liked his need to protect Melanie. Melanie was fun and tough, and I loved that she has a bit of spunk. I love that we get POV's from both Melanie and Nate, but we also get the bad guy's POV, which I would have liked a bit less of, so there was a bit more mystery, but that didn't ruin the story for me. Also, the Maggie situation was a little weird for me, I don't know why it didn't quite mesh with me because it was a sweet aspect, but something about it sat wrong for me, but that also didn't take away from my enjoyment of the rest of the book.

I love the combination of romance and suspense, so I am really looking forward to reading more books in this series! I enjoyed the other muses, and can't wait for their stories and for them to get their own guardians! I also enjoyed the writing, and look forward to reading more books by Lisa Kessler!

Legend of Love - 5 stars

I love this series and Lisa Kessler's writing! I love the romance and the suspense! Legend of Love is the 2nd book in the Muse Chronicles, and although each book is about a different Muse and their Guardian, I think it's best to read the first book before this one or you will have some spoilers for the first in this book, and the first book is excellent as well, so no hardship there. The Muses are in danger because someone is out to kill them so they can't open a theater and inspire people to do great things, and to help out the Muses, each has a Guardian that will supposedly help them out, and each of these Guardians will have something special to help the Muses succeed. In this book, we get Callie's story, she is the Muse of Epic Poetry, which means she has the desire to be a bit of a daredevil. Callie also works as a psychiatrist on a military base, and that's where she meets Hunter. Hunter is a soldier that just had a mission where one of his fellow soldiers didn't make it back home, so he needs to get approval to return to service. Hunter and Callie feel an attraction towards each other, but Callie is hesitant because she has a bad experience from her past that affects her. Callie and Hunter are really sweet together and have some super hot moments and some swoon worthy moments, and I love how honest they are with each other; there's no games. Legend of Love is entertaining and I enjoyed the action, and I'm super excited to read the next book!

Breath of Passion - 5 stars

Love Lisa Kessler's writing, and I love this series! This installment of The Muse Chronicles is definitely a hot one! I'd suggest reading the first 2 books in the series first, but each book is about a different muse, so it isn't completely necessary, but there are characters from the previous books, and there is a continuing storyline throughout the series, so read those first! They are awesome too, so no hardship there! In Breath of Passion, Erica's muse brings on passion in others, and Erica has had a bad experience with this, so she tries to keep her relationships only on the surface, but when sexy, hot fireman, Reed, comes into her life, their chemistry is off the charts! I love the suspense of the evil group trying to get rid of the muses, and I love getting glimpses of the past muses. I do think the muses need to take a more active role in protecting themselves, they all feel rather blasé about the whole thing, and it's getting a bit frustrating that they aren't being more pro-active. I love the whole muse plotline, and the romance was wonderful. I love when characters try to stay away from each other, but they just can't keep their hands off of each other! It makes for some intense, passionate scenes! Definitely enjoyed this book, and am definitely looking forward to the next!

I have read the muse chronical books several times in the last few years and I have enjoyed them every time. Listening to them this time did not change my mind in the least. The story is still very strong with unexpected twists and turns and happily ever after’s. I love the thought of a god’s daughters being reborn into human vessel’s and they have trials and tribulations they have to overcome. This three book bundle is worth the read or the listen whatever your preference is.

This was my first Lisa Kessler's book, and won't be my last. This boxed set includes the first three books in The Muse Chronicles Series (Lure of Obsession, Legend of Love, Breath of Passion). This is a series of interconnected stories, with characters intertwined. This Series is original, complex, captivating, and entertaining. Between the Muses, their Guardians, and a malicious Order, never a dull moment! The characters are intriguing and well developed. I loved to follow Mel, Nat, Callie, Hunter, Erica, and Reed, in their suspenseful journey. The cast of supporting characters is interesting. Gwendolyn Druyor did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listen to Light of the Spirit, the next book in the Series.
