Publisher's summary

A marriage celebration. A shocking murder. An English manor house mystery.

In 1920s England, private detective Henry Fleming is invited to spend the weekend at Watermead Manor to celebrate the marriage of Gerald and Ida Langley. The handsome millionaire had been instantly smitten with the glamorous Ida and, after a whirlwind romance, they had married in secret.

Upon returning to England, however, it soon becomes apparent that not everyone is pleased or excited about the marriage and very soon accusations begin to fly about Ida's motives: Does she really love him, or is she just an opportunistic gold-digger?

When, during the celebratory dinner, a guest is struck down by what appears to be poison, every guest becomes a suspect. It's now up to Fleming to sift through the evidence and thereby unearth the truth and expose the lies.

For fans of Poirot, Miss Marple, Columbo, Jessica Fletcher and all their wonderful whodunnit/howdunnit mysteries.

Knew who the murderer was BUT STILL

loved the story as it is not just the whodunit that makes the story - adored Tilly & Alfie....

Love this style

So I am a huge fan of Sherlock Holme and nothing can compare but there is something that resonates to with Detective Fleming that I look forward to listening/reading more! Also truly enjoy the narrator.

Good mystery

This is a good, clean, old fashioned mystery with interesting, complex characters. The end was definitely a surprise!

Average cozy mystery

The story is just ok. At first, I almost gave up I was so bored. As it was a short novel, i continued to listen. It turned out to be a little better towards the end. I have no desire to read another book in this series, however, it could be another readers cup of tea.
