Useful reflections on shepherds qualifications

I can’t believe such a specific answer to prayer existed out on the internet and I had no clue until just now. You can’t imagine how well this served me and how God has already used this to minister to me as I approach a heartbreaking conversation with church leadership. God, You are so sweet, perfectly sovereign, perfectly holy

Not to be dramatic or anything…

One of the key battles of recovering orthodoxy is restoring Biblical leadership in the church. This neglected qualification for leaders has touched ever church I've been apart of. Pastor Wilson handles this subject, from both the Old and New Testament, judiciously with extenuating circumstances considered. Jake McAtee is an excellent orator in every book I've heard him read. This is a must have for every pastor/ elder, and deacon... and the congregation since they are the one's voting.

The Title says it all.

A truly neglected topic! Much to think about. Well written, as usual from the venerable Wilson.

Thought provoking

Doug gives pastoral advice on pastoral qualifications and managing the household well. I’m so thankful for his ministry.

Encouragement for fathers and for those who desire the office of elder

First the good, well put together and I agree (for the most part )with his premise. A Pastor who's children are rebellious scalawags shouldn't be Pastoring, I would add that while they are living under the roof of the Pastor. once they are out on their own they are responsible for themselves. so as far the premise goes I don't have a big issue with it as it's presented. Now the bad, I don't see how a Pastor that believes in infant Baptism can consistently hold to this especially if they don't believe baptism regenerates. So infant baptism doesn't save but, an unbelieving/unruly child disqualifies the Pastor? if I was going to be an infant baptizer I would go all the way. At least then you could say, you had reason to believe your child was saved. To be clear I don't baptize babies and I don't believe in Baptismal Regeneration.

interesting premise

There is little clarity of thought, but at least the author tackles the topic. It is a good starting point to consider the issues.
