About this listen

Laurel Barker is a nymph on a mission: find a new home for herself, her lackadaisical dog, and her tree. The free-spirited wood nymph is soul-bound to the tree she saved before it was cut down to make room for a golf course. She hopes that a town full of supernatural folks will be the haven she needs to finally put down roots. Because her tree isn't looking so hot, and if he dies, so does she. It's not a fate she cares to experience, especially after running into the too-hot-to-be-legal police officer in town. No matter how long her life has already been (and it's been long), he has her thinking about the next phase of it and how much fun it could be.

Aiden Morris became a big-city detective to serve and protect, but a soul-crushing accident put an end to his career and sent him running. He finds a level of solace in Nocturne Falls. Being a small-town police officer suits him, and his remote cabin gives him peace, quiet, and a safe place to shift and roam the woods. Life is about as good as he expects it to get. At least, until he meets the nymph next door. He can't stop thinking about her, especially when it seems he may lose her. And when the past comes looking for them, he has to decide whether to keep running or stand by the woman who's planted herself in his heart.

Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

Loved IT!

If you could sum up The Nymph Next Door in three words, what would they be?

Great book! The combination of a nymph, a bear shifter and a talking dog make this a great story!

Another great Nocturne Falls story

Where does The Nymph Next Door rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Have been listening to the books for Nocturne Falls written by other authors than Kristen Painter but this one is one of the best so far especially with B.J. Harrison as the narrator. I love this story and know I will be reading it again from time to time.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Love Laurel and Aiden equally. I look forward to hearing more about them in future books. They fit in with so many of the characters that have become 'friends' in my book reading. Very real and also added more paranormal characteristics to the mix in Nocturne Falls.

Which scene was your favorite?

I love that Aiden showed his true self to Laurel.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the explanation about the dog and the tree was divulged.

Any additional comments?

I plan on looking for more books by this author J. L. Farey. I like her style.

Love the Nocturne Falls Universe stories!

This was a cute story, and I am glad it was included in the nocturne Falls universe, but I really wish it was a bit longer. It seemed sort of rushed and not as thorough or complete as I would’ve expected/hoped. Overall, it was a nice short story.

Loved it

J. L. Farey crafted a delightful story, that left me hoping there would be more to the story. She crafted characters that were well rounded and made you feel like they were friends you wanted to get to know better.

stopped

I liked it until the very end. I t ended very abruptly. There were way to many questions left unanswered and the mystery of who was answered in one paragraph
