Publisher's summary

Rain pounds the windscreen in the pitch-black evening. She knows this winding country road like the back of her hand, dodges the potholes with ease. But then she hears a crunch. A thud.

Since Katie’s dad left, it’s just been the two of us, but we’re a team – singing in the kitchen at cheesy pop songs, tackling her homework. My teenage daughter is everything to me.

But one night, as we’re curled up in front of the TV, the messages start. I keep my phone away from Katie so she can’t see the terrifying words: I know what you did. Now you’re going to do something for me....

My gut wrenches. In the town we’ve lived in our whole lives, could someone know about the terrible thing I did to protect my girl and keep her darkest secret?

Desperate to discover who is sending the messages, I have no choice but to obey. As I drive where they tell me, do what they say, send the photo evidence they want, I’m sure someone is watching me, too…and when one of our windows is smashed in the middle of the night, I suddenly realise who must be behind it all.

Someone I used to trust.

Someone right here in this safe little town.

And now I’m more scared than ever.

I’ve already done something terrible to protect my daughter. How much further will I have to go?

An absolutely addictive thriller about how far a mother would go for her child, with a twist that will leave you gasping.

Not the surprising twist promised…

The performance was engaging but the story fell short of the promised “absolutely gripping Psychological thriller”.

Not the best but not the worst

Kept listening to the end but...

1- That ending in my opinion fell
through.

2- The narration while not awful
could've been better had
there been a male to
differentiate characters.

3- I did NOT appreciate the
reference made at
the beginning of chapter 40
referring to the general
population of the United
States!!! It was uncalled for
and untrue!! It made my
blood boil ruining any chance
of listening or reading any-
thing else by this author!!!

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this on their reviews
but I definitely felt the need to
vent! All in all the story itself has potential...that abrupt ending though! I hope this review is helpful!

Story ok way too repetitive

I think this story had potential but if the author did a count of how many times Jennifer lamented about what she did she would see how excessive it is. That absolutely kills a story for more. It makes it less about empathy and more about annoyance. And clearly the ending made no sense. Great with the twist which might have tied it together but it wasn’t a stretch but it felt like it was glued and already unraveling. Vagueness with the ex made that storyline confusing for the add. Definitely a need for more character development. Again possibly a good story in the making.

Narration was good with what was there.

Questions left unanswered.

Many things happen that I didn't understand. Like, why was the lady with a stroller in the middle of a large rain storm?
