*Review* Another Motivational Book That Surprised
What did you like best about The Personal Experience Effect? What did you like least?
The Personal Experience Effect is another book that I was not especially interested in but was pleasantly surprised. I found the content to be very, very interesting. Jim Joseph has created a marketing experience from big companies to personal, individual experience.
The Personal Experience Effect was full of past and contemporary figures who have created their own marketing profile. This profile can be successful or not based on their actions. Joseph introduced failed marketing experience with successful one.
Thankfully he points out that he advises against taking controversial stands for those in Hollywood and other media and explains why this is not a good idea for most in that industry.
He also points out political figures and how they have market themselves. One of my favorites examples included James Carville. Joseph explains that how Carville's marketing persona and beliefs led him to be successful for his Democratic counterparts (working for P. Clinton.) Likewise, (this has always fascinated me) he has a successful marriage to Marie Matlin. His polar opposite in political policy- wife, who is an extremely smart, Republican contributor (working for 3 Republican presidents-Reagan, Bush 41 and Bush 43.)
They have both had tremendous success in their opposing political views-each work. Yet, they are happily married with a couple of kids. They have found a way to put their Personal Experience stands aside and have a successful family life because they can separate their personal experience from their public experience.
Once again, Jay has a professional, consistent performance. He is taking care to engage the reader.

Credit worthy/$ : I would not use a credit on this as it is less than five dollars. However, it is just over two and a hours long. It is fantastic advice with real-world examples. I was fortunate to have been *offered the opportunity to listen to it in exchange for my observations, thoughts and review*. I WILL refer to this book in the future.

It was like someone who has had a life-time of experience and observation about how people behave, at any age, and how it effects their life in every way. But it isn't told from that perspective. Instead, it's hip and now. It's not "I'm old and experienced, so listen to me you kids!" No, it is PERSONAL MARKETING, applied to today, for you.

Consistency is Key in Life Success

I found the Personal Experience Effect to by highly useful and relevant to my life right now. It is a reminder that how we comport ourselves in *each* aspect of our lives carries over into all others. Brand yourself, and be consistent within that brand; let people know what to expect from you. Joseph does a good job of explaining the whys and hows of personal branding, and provides pertinent celebrity examples to illustrate each step or phase. He explains well, without unnecessary repetition.
Jay Prichard's narration was even, clear, and very well paced. I will definitely be looking into his other work.

Very intersting and applicable to anyone's life
Would you listen to The Personal Experience Effect again? Why?
I really enjoyed this book. It was thought provoking and had some easy to follow techniques for personal branding. Definitely a book that people should read for creating value in their personal or professional brand.

i think hw begging of the book is the best part where the tips for personal MKT are presented. on the last chapters are telling particularly of the authors life.

Well done, but not my cup of tea.
Well written and read, and very practical, especially if you share the author's basic premise. To me, though, he seems to define branding as a process for helping people help you to get what you want. I believe that it should be more about finding the best ways you can meet their needs and help them succeed.
