About this listen

The Picture of Dorian Gray has had an enduring impact on society - one that shows no signs of diminishing any time soon. Since the inimitable Oscar Wilde first created this seductive thriller, countless fans have been chilled by his unflinching look at the darker side of human nature. A look made even more chilling, perhaps, by the recognition - if we are truly honest with ourselves - that inside each of us lurks a little bit of Dorian Gray.

Classic story, good choice for students.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
The book is a classic, that has aged well, The story presents the reader with a "what if" and leads the reader down the main character's journey of morality (good vs evil). This book does have some suggestive moments where the characters appear to have more than a friendly relationship; and is often presented as an early example of LGBTQ literature.
The narrator did an excellent job and has a pleasant bass voice that did not distract when changing to female characters.
The only fault I could find was that at the end of each chapter were posed some study questions. While good questions I was not expecting them, they allow the listener to think about the previous chapter. Overall, I was very pleased with the narration and the questions

Talented Voice Artist

Great classic novel with an excellently talented voice artist. I took one star off because I detest novels infected by the “discussion questions” at the end of chapters. Ruined the experience for me, though the voice artist kept me listening. I always find the questions hideous or inane, plus they toss me right out of the story like a sudden cocktail of hot vinegar thrown in my face. If this is the AOG business model, fine, but I would beg the producers to stop this format. I received a free copy for an honest review.

An Interesting Listen

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. A true classic of a time that was very shallow and self centered, especially the main character Dorian Gray. One simple wish for youthful beauty changed his life forever. A thought provoking novel that will make you wonder about yourself and what you'd do to achieve you greatest desire. The Picture of Dorian Gray is a tale that never ages.

Interesting read

This classic by Oscar Wilde was narrated very well by C.J. McAllister. I found it hard to understand at times, but the reading was very well done and enjoyable.
