About this listen

Prepare for an audio-enhanced descent...into horror.

A prisoner, sentenced to death during the Spanish Inquisition, finds himself trapped in a lightless cell to contemplate his fate. Will he die by falling helplessly into a deathly, yawning pit in the center of the room? Or will the deadly, razor-sharp pendulum slowly descending from the ceiling be the cause of his demise?

This enhanced audiobook - with music and sound effects - is an unabridged copy of the classic story by the master of horror, Edgar Allan Poe, and produced by Fort Raphael Publishing, Chicago, Illinois.

A story of a man who is being tortured during the Spanish Inquisition. In this story, you feel the fear of this man during this dark time in history. A must listen to for Edgar Allan Poe fans and the narrator does a wonderful job narrating this tale.

Kevin Theis does his usual wonderful job in this classic from Poe :)

I was given this book free at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Poe at his best

Mr. Theis’ voice was made to read Poe stories. He once again does a great job bringing voice the terror and fear that Poe so wonderfully wrote. This rendition includes sounds that further add to the creepiness of the story. It is a great addition to any Poe or horror collection.

Also, if you want to increase the terror…read it once, then read it again and slowly increase the speed of the narration as the story continues. Enjoy!

I was provided with a free copy of this audio book for my honest review. The views expressed here are entirely my own.

As a big fan of Poe, I was a little hesitant to listen to his classic.. I've always thought that My narration was good enough. But Mr. Theis does a great job bringing Poe's macabre details to light! Well done, Sir!

One of the best!

The Pit and the Pendulum is a classic tale of horror, one of Poe's best. This is my first time listening to the story instead of reading it, and the performance really lets you drink in every well placed word. This audio version is a dramatic read with subtle sound effects throughout. They really added to the story and became part of it. I listened to it in broad daylight and still had the shivers. Well done.

Great Narration!

This is a short, powerfully told first-person narration. It is told from a perspective of stress, confusion, uncertainty. This narration captures that and brings the story to life in a way that makes it accessible and enjoyable - if frightening.

Dramatic and suspenseful

I love the narration and the sound of the pendulum. They make the story more real. You should lisen it!
