Publisher's summary
Twice before, Thomas Covenant had been summoned to the Land, the strange, otherworldly realm where magic worked and his leprosy vanished. Twice before, he’d been dragged reluctantly into conflict against Lord Foul’s minions, with disastrous consequences for everyone around him. Now, Covenant is back.
In a land blasted by war and drowning in despair, Covenant is the only hope against Foul’s imminent triumph. Yet in order to win he must stand against his dearest friends and direst foes in combat. As Lord Mhoram leads the armies of the Land in helpless warfare, the wild magic of Thomas Covenant’s white gold wedding ring is once again the Land’s only salvation - and he still has no idea how to use it.

Fire. Wind. Pestilence. Earthquake. Drought. Lightning. These are the six Decimates, wielded by sorcerers for both good and evil. But a seventh Decimate exists - the most devastating one of all. For centuries, the realms of Belleger and Amika have been at war, with sorcerers from both sides harnessing the Decimates to rain blood and pain upon their enemy. But, somehow, in some way, the Amikans have discovered and invoked a seventh Decimate, one that strips all lesser sorcery of its power.

Story
When Michael Moorcock began chronicling the adventures of the albino sorcerer Elric, last king of decadent Melniboné, and his sentient vampiric sword, Stormbringer, he set out to create a new kind of fantasy adventure, one that broke with tradition and reflected a more up-to-date sophistication of theme and style. The result was a bold and unique hero: a rock-and-roll antihero who would channel all the violent excesses of the '60s into one enduring archetype.

Lindisfarne, AD 793. There had been portents - famine, whirlwinds, lightning from clear skies, serpents seen flying through the air. But when the raiders came, no one was prepared. They came from the North, their dragon-prowed longships gliding out of the dawn mist as they descended on the kingdom's most sacred site. It is 8th June AD 793, and with the pillage of the monastery on Lindisfarne, the Viking Age has begun. While his fellow monks flee before the Norse onslaught, one young novice stands his ground.

Where is the Second Chronicles?
I read the Thomas Covenant Chronicles Series One books a long time ago. I also read the Second Chronicles series. Listening to the books brings back the memories of reading them. I always thought they should have been made into movies. I haven't been able to find the audible books for the Second series but the Third set is available. Is there a way to get the Second Series on Audible? I don't want to listen to the Third Series before listening to the Second.
The narrator, Scott Brick, did an excellent job. The voice he uses for Banner reminds me of a character from the TV show, Star Trek Voyager.

Scott Brick
My first exposure to Donaldson was The Gap Cycle, and if you haven’t given that a listen then maybe you should. But this series was honestly very good. Not my favorite fantasy series, but definitely worth every credit. I’m excited to see where the other books take me. There is a large gap from this book to the next, and with in all that time I know Donaldson continued to master his craft. Also, shout out to Scott Brick. He is so unbelievably talented that I can’t even summarize it. “I am the blood guard” … what a bad ass
