About this listen

The Preacher, the Pistol, and the Noose - an action-packed, Old West thrill ride!

In the spring of 1893, Clayton Stevens, pastor of the local church in Silverton, Texas, enlists the help of an unlikely ally to set out after his niece after she was abducted by a violent gang of outlaws during a stagecoach robbery that took the life of her parents.

After a string of unfortunate events, and feeling he had no other options and nothing left to lose, Clayton finds himself on the trail of the infamous McCarty gang in a battle for life and death to rescue his sole-surviving relative before it’s too late.

Forward by Mike "Duke" Venturino, acclaimed gun magazine writer who's written for Guns and Ammo, Shooting Times, Guns Magazine, The American Handgunner, Rifle Magazine, and Handloader Magazine, as well as being the author of the following hardcover books: SPG Black Powder Cartridge Reloading; Shooting Colt Single Actions in All Styles, Calibers, and Generations; Shooting Sixguns of the Old West, Shooting Lever Guns of the Old West; Shooting Buffalo Rifles of the Old West; Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook (4th Edition), and Shooting World War II Small Arms.

Award-winning author Steven Bird takes his fast-paced, hard-hitting, post-apocalyptic, and sci-fi writing style to his personal favorite genre - westerns and the Old West in this action-packed thrill ride set in Texas and the New Mexico Territory in the late 1800s.

New Genre for me

I never read fiction but was in the mood for pure entertainment and that’s exactly what I found. Was pleasantly surprised by the many detailed facts about the firearms of the day. Would recommend this book and Olán to try others by this author

The good ol' days!

I'm not much of a reader but this one kept me interested. Very well detailed, easy to picture the scene and the weaponry.

Feel good book

As a western fan , I raise horses and a survival fan, I’ve follow the author on social media so when a western came out I was intrigued. I wasn’t disappointed in the western. It made me feel good with hope that there are still good men out there. His descriptions of the old west where spot on. Great job!

Experiences That Forge Change

Steven Bird does an awesome job narrating this book that he wrote...not surprising to me because authors know what their own emphasis and point of focus on specific events actually is, thereby injecting the perfect inflections at the precise time. My first experience of this author was his apocalyptic series "Breaking the Beast".

The story is basically about the Redemption from the death sentence we, living in this sin-filled world, are all actually under without the work of our Maschiach/Saviour. Henry "Hank" Deark (pronounced "Dark) has been left behind as a sacrificial lamb by his cohorts in crime, the McCarty Gang. The town pastor, Clayton Stevens, needs his help, because the Gang has his niece. Clayton decides that Hank is the right man to help him after listening to his life story. Hank, a very skilled gunslinger has all the instincts and skills necessary, so they create a plan. During many adventures, both become the men that only such experiences can forge, changing their lives forever. Wonderfully written!!
