I liked it

I was given this book for free from audiobook boom and asked to leave an unbiased review for the author and narrator. Change the name Rachel Harroway to Clyde Barker, pronouns she to he, cop to lawyer, Peck to Sara and the premise/story for this series is the same as the “Haunting of Rachel Harroway” and “Orphans” series. I’m not saying I didn’t like the stories, I’m all about the supernatural and ghost stories, but change things up Mr. Donovan, come up with different story lines and nix the masked serial killer lines, you’ve used that in 3 separate series now. What I’m basically saying is if you listened to the Rachel Harroway stories you’ve pretty much heard this series too. That being said I liked the story, and still think Mr. Donovan is a good writer, but just seems like a one trick pony at this point. He also needs to get a new proofreader and production team. “He grabbed the cadillac’s bumper and pulled himself up” then “the stranger crossed the road, he fished the keys out of his pocket” got in his car and drove off. How could the stranger have pulled himself up by the bumper when the car was obviously across the road???? “In the interrogation room Terry Wells rested on his head on the table top”, so the guy was doing a head stand in the interrogation room??? I like Cheryl May’s voice. She attempts to make the story a production rather than just reading a book to you. She needs to work on her pronunciation though.

THE PROMISE

This is a great book. Part of it is out of my normal genre. But its beginning to be more my liking. Clyde goes back home to his inheritance. He finds the town has secrets. He helps solve old crimes. Clyde is a lawyer that has a special gift that allows him to connect with the dead. He then figures out who killed them. I thought this was a very good book. Ill look for more like this. Cheryl May does a good job narrating this book. If this review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

Why?

Why can’t someone teach these audio book performers the proper words to emphasize in a sentence? It ruins the book!

Great story!

I love a good mystery, and this one was good. I've read so many that I can usually guess who the killer is right off, but not in this one. I didn't figure it out until the end. It seemed like it ended a little abruptly, but it looks like it is a series, so that is probably why. The narrator did a great job. I have listened to several by her, and she seems to be getting better and better. She doesn't intrude on the story, just narrates it. I love ghost stories, too, and this one also fills that bill. I will continue with this series and look for more titles by this author and narrator.

Stacatto

TO ME, the reader had such an annoying, stacatto style of reading, I only listened to two chapters. This was very disappointing because the story line had attracted me.
