Uniquely Written and Wonderfully Engaging

Initially when I began listening to this story I had a bit of difficulties following the new introduction of characters and story lines for each new chapter. I found I had to really pay attention and immerse myself in the story, my multi-tasking habits had to be put on hold for a bit. Once I got past this bump, the characters came to life once the introduction chapters were completed. How they ended up connecting later in the story was amazing. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. I loved the details used to describe the characters, their surroundings and emotions. The “Q” is definitely a place I think we all could relate to at some point in our lives, I felt like I had gone back in time as I listened to the description of it ☺️

Donald Davenport was a new narrator for me, he did a good job, not great as his voice inflections did not change enough from character to character in my opinion. His narration did not make me want to stop listening, I just have several favorite narrators I am hooked on.

Rick R. Reed is a new author to me, I am honored that I was awarded this book with the intent to provide a review. In summary, I highly recommend this book, just plan to be 100% committed to listening for the first several chapters. After that you will be hooked and will be able to listen while multi-tasking! I loved Rick’s style of writing so much that I will searching for other things he has written.

Absolutely Incredible!

I don't know where to begin. This is one of the best books I have ever listened to!
Each chapter is about a different character and it is so well written, I feel like I know these people. If I went to the Q, I would be able to have a conversation with everyone.
Each character has a different believable back story: an abusive partner, a loveless relationship, loneliness, These stories are written with such emotion and passion, you feel for every person.
I listened to it in one sitting. I was captivated.

Great Listen

I really enjoyed the stories and liked the characters in this audiobook. Even though each character gets only a chapter or two, it was enough to get to know and care about them, feel their joy and heartbreak. Author did a great job interweaving lives of different characters at various stages in their lives at the same place and it turned out culminating in some way. Narrator did a good job with all the different voices and the story. Overall this was a great listening experience.

Wonderful story

The Q by Rick R Reed was one of those stories I wasn’t sure I would like. I’m very familiar with this author and know that he is a master at wringing emotions from the reader.
This book did not disappoint.
I liked the fact that this story was told from different points of view and that we got glimpses into their night at the Q.
The narrator, Donald Davenport, was a completely new narrator to me. He did a pretty good job narrating this book.
Highly recommend this one!!!

One night with a big impact

There are a number of characters and several plot lines, all centered around a small gay bar in West Virginia. This isn’t always my favorite style of book, but I really enjoyed this one. I didn’t have any trouble keeping all the characters straight, and while I wanted to know more about some of them, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment.

The author treats all of his characters with great compassion and insight. While they don’t all get their happily ever after, the overall tone of the book is very hopeful. There is a death, a birth, endings, and new beginnings. Men and women are written with equal compassion and insight. Overall a great read!

Decent story

So I feel like the description was quite misleading. I thought this was a sexy love story in a gay bar. The story was good but not my cup of tea. All the characters are over 55. It’s very very low heat. It has many relationships going on in a 24 hour period. It was very descriptive about every character. It was very distracting. I actually live in West Virginia so I just kept listening. The narrator did a good job.
