About this listen

This book is about the great moral issues underlying many of the headline-making political controversies of our times. It is not a comforting book but a book about disturbing and dangerous trends. The Quest for Cosmic Justice shows how confused conceptions of justice end up promoting injustice, how confused conceptions of equality end up promoting inequality, and how the tyranny of social visions prevents many people from confronting the actual consequences of their own beliefs and policies. Those consequences include the steady and dangerous erosion of fundamental principles of freedom - amounting to a quiet repeal of the American revolution. The Quest for Cosmic Justice is the summation of a lifetime of study and thought about where we as a society are headed - and why we need to change course before we do irretrievable damage.

Slightly repetitive if you’ve read his other books.

I’d consider this book a synopsis of his BASIC ECONOMICS text. Strongly conservative for my middle of the road leanings..almost to the point of being a bit offensive. Good narration.

The best audiobook I have.

1. Arguments are complete and well articulated.
2. Without a doubt the best narration I’ve ever heard.

Great book!

I really enjoyed this book. Good reader, short, concise chapters, and Sowell does a great job dismantling the oppressive idea of "social justice." Highly recommended and wish it would be updated!

excellent points in lopsided form

Sowell expertly untangles several closely related and deeply nuanced to topics. The addition of "Cosmic Justice" to my vocabulary has provided capacity to express ideas I found otherwise impossible.

I find the presentation uncomfortably reactionary and politicized as the failures of state and culture expressed are found in both conservative and liberal idealism. This slant feels to have reduced the impact for an otherwise crucial set of vocabulary.

Clear and Consise

Clear explanation of elitist thinking and how it caused more harm than good over the years.
