Publisher's summary

Levi Black has mostly recovered from the events of a year ago. The only lingering effects are that he’s much more well-known in York than he’d like to be, and he’s a lot more cautious about walking around his house naked.

However, those events brought him the capricious and fascinating Blue, so he’s not complaining. On the contrary, he’s happy, in love, and looking forward to Blue finally moving in with him. And if sometimes he wonders what Blue sees in a boring cartoonist, he keeps that to himself.

Blue Billings is finally ready to throw off the memories of his past and move in with the person who means the most in the world to him. His psychic abilities have grown in the last year to his mentor Tom's consternation, but Blue is determined to look on the bright side. He’s also focused on ignoring all the warning signs that he’s received lately.

However, even deeply buried secrets have a way of rising to the surface. And when a surprise from Blue’s past turns up and draws them away to a lonely house on the Yorkshire moors, Levi and Blue must fight for their survival once again.

From best-selling author Lily Morton comes the second book in the Black & Blue series. The books are intended to be listened to in order.

Fantastic!!

I absolutely loved the first story, but this one seriously tops that one!! Levi and Blue are back!! But then so is Blue’s father! I loved the humor and snark that was perfectly woven in throughout all the ghost and drama! This was seriously creepy, I LOVED it!! I got enthralled into the story. I loved the family unit that Levi, Blue, Tom and Will are creating. Joel Leslie did such a fantastic job with all the voices!! Sooo Freakin fantastic!

Oh my heart...

I have to say that this was a much better book than the first one. It was emotional, exciting, and sucked me in immediately.

Slight spoilers

In here we again have Blue whose life has been unbelievably hard and is a psychic and Levi, the goodest man who has ever been good when one day Blue's father, whom he has never met, shows up with an offer of a lot of money for spending a weekend in a haunted manor.

It might have been longer but it's hard to do a search on an audiobook to confirm.

Anyways, like always there were bad ghosts and good ghosts and even charlatans that also were invited to stay. Things of course get ugly but it all works out in the end

During the course of all this you can now see that Blue has accepted being in love with Levi and it was great.

My only knock on this was Joel's narration. By now if you have read my reviews, you know that Joel is one of my favorite narrators so this may be a a shock but the way that Blue and Levi were narrated made it hard to tell who was who. I could not tell the difference. The other characters were done well so I was surprised to have this happen.

BRILLIANT! A thrilling read!

Oh Em Gosh, you guys! I heard a few mixed reviews on this sequel to the Mysterious Blue Billings, but I have got to say that this was utterly brilliant! I loved every second of it. The characters are true to themselves and I love how they take everything in stride together. Levi and Blue are so wonderful and I adore their relationship. The insecurities and courage to communicate is such a relatable aspect to their relationship. Thank you Lily Morton for this master piece. What a fun, spooky ride! 👻 As always, bravo to Joel Leslie for the wonderful, animated narration 👏👏👏 I highly recommend this book, as well as the first one. Hands down, five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing book

I love Blue and Levi! This book was every bit as good as the first one, if not better. I love these characters and Joel just adds so much depth to the story with his characterizations. Blue and Levi travel to the countryside for a visit to a haunted house and definitely find more than they bargained for.

Levi and blue oh yeah, Tom too!

They are happily going about their lives when Blue sees a creepy guy a few times, it turns out it’s a harbinger or Crow, so, obviously something is brewing and not the good kind. Tom joins the 2 at an estate for a ‘job’, others from blues past are there. Eew, we don’t like them. There is a good creep factor and the defunct Hellfire club’s (rich men with too much time and power were the members) fall out from years of disgusting behavior. It’s a good story, very likable characters, I hope there are more adventures for us.

Absolutely Fantastic!

With love, terror and adventure, Black and Blue hits the top! Well-written and instrumented; like book #1, keep this series -these character lives- winding out to enrich all around them. Kudos on whom you chose to widen their "family" and begin the tapestry to include others. Please keep them true. Please keep your series to it's belevolence. Too many have not the charm of suspense, hardship and trials; but also joy, tenderness and relief; all while not making things crude, soul-destroying and violent. I'd say Gold Star if not for how cheap gold is to your work! Well done!

Great addition to the series!

Joel Leslie does a fantastic job narrating this sometimes creepy book. I really enjoy seeing Blue and Levi develop their relationship further, and Tom is a great secondary character. There are still some great laugh out loud moments, but overall the book does read more as a supernatural suspense than a romance.

Enjoyable paranormal adventure with a great couple

Considering how much I enjoyed the first book of the Black and Blue series, I was pretty excited about what the couple's second adventure would entail. And while I hadn't initially intended to wait for the audiobook release of The Quiet House, I had heard a lot of praise for Joel Leslie's performance in The Mysterious and Amazing Blue Billings, so I was more than happy it worked out that way.

The Quiet House had a very unique feel and storyline. I always enjoy stories featuring established couples because we get the opportunity to see a magnified chemistry that has had a chance to develop and solidify with time. I loved seeing Levi and Blue together on this adventure in a house with quite the reputation for its powerful spirits. Truthfully, I was a little surprised at how uncertain both men were concerning their importance and role in one another's life. While that feels like an honest characterization of a newer relationship, I don't know that it completely gelled with how I saw Levi and Blue at the end of the first book. That said, I enjoyed watching their bond and trust in their relationship deepen over the course of The Quiet House as much as I enjoyed their playful banter and teasing.

The paranormal aspect also felt pretty different than I initially expected. Once again, I enjoyed how unique the setting and experiences were in The Quiet House. The author's descriptions are always so colorful and fantastic, and the scenes really do come to life. Of course, this is only enhanced by the fun and consuming performance Joel always puts into his narration. But where The Mysterious and Amazing Blue Billings had a great spooky factor, The Quiet House had a more theatrical haunting vibe. That isn't to say that the images and story weren't great and incredibly unique, because they certainly were, it just didn't have that scary vibe that had me jumping or anticipating the next sudden reveal.

All in all, I enjoyed the audiobook of The Quiet House. The narration is boisterous and fun, and the story very unique.
