Publisher's summary

In this sequel to The Insidious Dr. Fu-Manchu, the mysterious and malevolent Doctor returns to carry out his fiendish plan and further the cause of his secret political order from the Mandarin province of Ho-Nan.

Fu-Manchu summons a poisonous cat, fiery hands of death and a mummy to hunt down the Reverend Eltham and obtain the coveted name of a secret agent in China. Neyland Smith and Dr. Petrie are subjected to the tortures of the wire jacket and Six Gates of Joyful wisdom as they attempt to thwart the evil Doctor and they narrowly escape death on the moors of West England. Has the beautiful Karamaneh returned to aid the nefarious Chinaman, or Smith and Petrie? Can the relentless, cruel master of the Yellow Peril be stopped this time?

Editorial reviews

Fans of classic dime-novels and Saturday TV serials will welcome The Return of Dr. Fu Manchu. Listeners approaching this tale as a cultural relic will have the best chance of sidestepping the hokey and rank stereotypes that drive this story of a "murderous Chinaman", endowed with "all the cruel cunning of that eastern race accumulated in one giant intellect". For those who like their fiction with a high pulp quotient, the villainous Fu Manchu's ingenious and unlikely ways of dispatching his victims will provide a series of cliffhangers that will tickle for hours, and narrator John Bolen brings an array of accents and a hamminess appropriate to the subject matter of Sax Rohmer's classic tale of histrionic Oriental villainy.
