About this listen

Bedford Forrest was colorful and daring to be sure but even more interesting is that he was devious at times with his enemies. To Forrest, a trick was often better than a regiment of soldiers for if he could accomplish his purpose without spending the lives of his countrymen, so much the better. He was not military trained and therefore not aware that his tactics were unusual. Never mind that they were generally successful in remarkable ways. Born in poverty and raised in rural circumstances, he became a wealthy southern gentleman. In the Civil War, he gave his fortune in pursuit of victory and he raised three regiments of cavalry trying to save the Confederacy and his way of life.

Women’s voices ???

A good job on a complicated person and tried to present both sides of an argument where possible. Somethings are indefensible, Slavery!! I would have given the narrator 5 stars but for the women’s voices. Good God I’m glad they don’t really sound like that.

Started slowly but a great listen

Didn’t know how I would like this title, but it gladly impressed. Some artistic license taken I’m sure in the dialogues, but the historical information is pretty accurately portrayed. Learned a bit from the title as well.

Dan Bell brings a lively character list and allows the story to be easily followed. If you’re looking for an easy listen in the car to and from work (what this reader did) give it a listen!
