About this listen

Sami Yaffa is a bass guitar legend, an icon of the rock world, and an uncompromising walker of his own way, who rose to prominence as the bassist of the mythical Hanoi Rocks. A man of lights and shadows, and the embodiment of street credibility, Yaffa has recorded with Bruce Springsteen and Slash, played with the New York Dolls and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, crawled across Helsinki pubs and restaurants with Anthony Bourdain, and performed at Carnegie Hall. This is his story.

The real deal. Hell yeah.

Been a fan of Hanoi Rocks since I was a kid. Followed all the members various projects and Sami always came across as a powerhouse of punk purity and an open soul. This book proves it. Fantastic.

Its long, but it's worth it!

Who would have thought the bassist from Hanoi Rocks would have so much to say? But low and behold he did! Something like 16 hours. And moreover, It was compelling.

Sami offers tons of insights and his years with Hanoi, The evolution of the music industry, and what it's like to be a working musician in the modern era.

If you're a fan of Hanoi Rocks, music of '80s, or just great storytelling, you'll definitely dig this!

A must if you are a fan of Mr Yaffa

Well done. Answered a lot of my Hanoi questions I have had for years as an American only being able to stare at the album covers(for hrs). He really got you into the bands and the albums he recorded telling it like was. The real story’s. Topic’s good or bad he opened up and gave it to you like you were there. Great Book!

A real look at a life in music

This book is fantastic. Sami Yaffa has experienced all the ups and downs that a life in rock n roll has to offer. As a reader, one totally benefits from his restless wanderlust and his total commitment and fascination with music. The book takes you from Helsinki to Hollywood as well as everywhere in between and beyond. So good!

Outstanding

It is one of the best autobiographies i have ever listened to. Sami is a survivor in a ruthless industry. Honest and upright man.
